Veterinary staff at the grassroots level have been disseminated knowledge about biosecurity farming processes, prevention of African swine fever for large-scale farms; closed and open barn farming techniques... Outsiders entering and leaving the farm must be limited as much as possible. Before entering the livestock area, people must be quarantined for at least 72 hours, showered and dressed in protective clothing of the farm. As soon as visitors leave the barn, the barn area must be disinfected with a concentration 2-3 times higher than normal.
With open barns, in addition to limiting outsiders from entering and leaving the farm, it is not advisable to buy or bring raw meat and uncooked pork products from outside into the farm...
In addition to training on biosafety farming, veterinary staff at the grassroots level are trained on how and how to use vaccines such as: checking the health of pigs before injection, checking vaccines, injection equipment, mixing methods... In particular, notes when injecting African swine fever vaccine such as only using it on healthy pigs, injecting a single dose on pigs 4 weeks of age or older; do not use cracked, discolored or expired vaccine vials. Mix the freeze-dried vaccine with the accompanying diluent, absolutely do not mix it with other solutions.
Hai Duong is currently the 5th province in the country (after Cao Bang, Lang Son, Bac Ninh and Quang Ngai) to organize large-scale vaccination against African swine fever. Veterinary staff at the grassroots level will be the main force to deploy large-scale vaccination.
