Pepper price today 7/8 in the world market

In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Community (IPC) has updated the prices of pepper of all types traded in the international market on August 5 (local time) as follows:

Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices increased slightly compared to yesterday at USD 7,112/ton (up 0.06%). In addition, Muntok white pepper prices increased slightly compared to yesterday at USD 9,942/ton (up 0.05%).

Brazilian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,000/tonne.

Malaysia’s ASTA black pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $8,900/ton. Meanwhile, the country’s ASTA white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $11,750/ton.

Prices of all types of pepper in Vietnam remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 gr/l reached 6,240 USD/ton; 550 gr/l reached 6,370 USD/ton.

Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $8,950/ton.

In July 2025, Vietnam exported more than 20,900 tons of pepper, including about 18,300 tons of black pepper and more than 2,500 tons of white pepper, with a total turnover of 137.5 million USD.

The average export price of black pepper reached 6,395 USD/ton, down slightly from the previous month. Meanwhile, white pepper recorded a significant increase, reaching 8,570 USD/ton, 298 USD/ton higher than in June.

The sharp increase in white pepper prices amid a decline in black pepper has attracted the attention of experts. The main reason is that white pepper output is low due to the complicated production process. In addition, unfavorable weather in key growing areas such as Dak Lak and Gia Lai has reduced the amount of ripe pepper, the main raw material for processing white pepper, leading to limited supply.

In addition to supply factors, demand from major markets such as the US, Europe and Japan has also increased sharply. White pepper is popular in countries with high standards thanks to its bright color, low odor and suitability for industrial processing. July is also the time when businesses begin to prepare orders for the year-end consumption season, contributing to a rapid increase in demand in the short term.

The price difference between white pepper and black pepper is currently quite large because white pepper accounts for a low proportion of total exports, so even small fluctuations in demand are enough to cause prices to increase sharply.

If supply remains limited and demand from Europe continues to increase, white pepper prices may remain high in the coming time. However, the increase may slow down if favorable weather improves production or businesses boost sales.
