Towards new areas of cooperation
At the recent conference “Meeting Korea in Da Nang 2025”, Korean localities, businesses and investors shared many comprehensive cooperation orientations from bilateral cooperation to the city’s key sectors. This is also an opportunity for investors and businesses to better understand the opportunities, potentials and advantages of the new Da Nang city.
Mr. Sean Chung, CEO of Hanvina World Company, expressed that Da Nang not only has great potential for tourism and investment but also possesses an open and modern spirit, very suitable for the multi-industry cooperation models that Hanvina World is pursuing.
The company proposed several cooperation directions with the city such as developing a high-tech agricultural model combined with eco-tourism in the suburban area; a Vietnam-Korea cultural exchange center in Da Nang, educational and artistic cooperation, etc.
“With a network of partners in Korea, we are committed to accompanying the city to connect potential investors to Da Nang to explore cooperation opportunities in the fields of services, tourism and high technology,” Mr. Sean Chung affirmed.
Da Nang is gradually asserting its role in the fields of high-tech manufacturing, medical equipment, supporting industries and digital technology.
Mr. Jeon Chang Hyun, Project Director of ICT VINA Co., Ltd. (under Dentium Group) said that ICT VINA Company (specializing in manufacturing dental medical equipment) was established in 2018. The company has invested 257 million USD to build and operate 2 factories in Da Nang High-Tech Park and is currently building a third factory.
The factor that helped ICT VINA implement the project smoothly was thanks to the support of the city government, all procedures were handled quickly and effectively.
Furthermore, the city government focuses on investing heavily in infrastructure serving logistics production, creating an attractive investment and business environment for domestic and foreign enterprises. Da Nang also possesses a strategic location and a synchronous transport infrastructure system, especially the connection with industrial parks and neighboring areas is very convenient.
“For us, Da Nang is not only an investment destination, but also a strategic center for developing high-value manufacturing industries based on scientific and technological innovation and sustainable development. ICT VINA believes in the city's strong development potential and is committed to continuing to invest, expand, and accompany the city in the new era of development,” said Mr. Jeon Chang Hyun.
In addition to cooperation in tourism, high technology, and manufacturing industry, Da Nang wishes to expand cooperation with Korean localities and enterprises in the field of high-tech agriculture, especially in building a supply chain from cultivation, processing to consumption of Ngoc Linh ginseng products.
South Korea ranks fourth among 45 countries and territories investing in Da Nang. The city has 345 investment projects from South Korea with a total investment capital of about 1,332 million USD. South Korea is also the leading international tourist market in Da Nang. In the first six months of 2025, the number of South Korean tourists to the city reached more than 1.2 million.
Promote local cooperation
Vietnam - Korea relations are assessed to be in the best stage of development since the two countries established diplomatic relations on December 22, 1992. Based on that foundation, up to now, Da Nang has established friendly and cooperative relations with 8 localities of Korea, including Changwon, Daegu, Osan, Hwaseong, Yongin, Gwangyang, Jeju and Pyeongtaek; thereby effectively implementing many cooperation programs between the two sides.
Pyeongtaek City owns a seaport that is among the top 5 largest seaports in Korea and is an important logistics hub in the region. Not only that, Pyeongtaek is also known as the capital of the semiconductor industry.
Ms. Kim Myeong-suk, Vice Chairman of the Pyeongtaek City Council, said that Pyeongtaek is oriented to develop into a high-tech urban area, an environmentally friendly green city. This is very similar to the orientation of Da Nang.
With a very good growth rate and the merger between Quang Nam province and Da Nang city, it has opened up a new and larger development space. Therefore, in the coming time, Pyeongtaek city will promote cooperation and strong investment in Da Nang in the fields of information technology (IT), semiconductor industry and tourism.
Local cooperation between Da Nang and Korea is also specified from the city level to the ward, commune, department and sector levels. A typical example is the 10-year cooperation relationship between Nam Tra My and Hamyang District (Korea).
From 2022 to August 2025, Nam Tra My sent 181 workers to work seasonally in Hamyang district under the labor recruitment cooperation program between the two localities.
The two sides have carried out many exciting cooperation activities such as organizing 16 working delegations to each other and attending the Ginseng Festival hosted by the two localities. Hamyang District also supports social security projects for Nam Tra My commune.
The two sides will continue to strengthen economic cooperation, especially cooperation in developing ginseng, a rare medicinal herb that the two localities possess.
