Pepper price today, August 6, 2025, recorded a breakthrough in Dak Lak , reaching 140,000 VND/kg, equal to Lam Dong. In the international market, Vietnamese pepper unexpectedly took the lead with a sharp increase in price.

At 04:20 on August 6, the domestic pepper price market recorded slight fluctuations, with prices ranging from 139,000 to 140,000 VND/kg. Although many regions maintained stability, Dak Lak pepper prices today had a slight adjustment.
In Gia Lai, Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai provinces, pepper prices remained at 139,000 VND/kg, with no significant changes.
Lam Dong also maintained the mark of 140,000 VND/kg, continuing to be one of the regions with the highest pepper prices.
The notable highlight today is that pepper price in Dak Lak increased slightly by 500 VND, reaching 140,000 VND/kg, equal to pepper price in Dak Nong and becoming the highest price in the surveyed provinces.
The domestic market in the second quarter of 2025 witnessed many erratic fluctuations, influenced by policy factors and business psychology. In particular, information about the US imposing import tariffs on Vietnamese pepper has weakened domestic demand, as many businesses have limited purchases after completing previous orders.
In addition, the revised VAT Law (effective from July 1, 2025) does not have specific instructions, leading to a delay in purchasing, making the market even more sluggish.

According to a survey at 04:20 on August 6, the world pepper market is witnessing mixed developments. While pepper prices in many regions remain stable, pepper prices in Vietnam tend to increase slightly.
Vietnamese black pepper prices increased in both types. Pepper of 500 g/l increased by 1.6 USD to 6,240 USD/ton (equivalent to 164,861 VND/kg), while pepper of 550 g/l increased slightly by 1.57 USD to 6,370 USD/ton (equivalent to 168,296 VND/kg).
Vietnam ASTA white pepper also had a slight increase, adding 1.12 USD, bringing the price to 8,950 USD/ton (equivalent to 236,459 VND/kg).
In other markets, pepper prices tend to move sideways. Specifically, Indonesian black pepper and Indonesian white pepper both remained at $7,108/ton (VND187,794/kg) and $9,937/ton (VND262,536/kg), respectively.
Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 remained stable at USD 6,000/ton (VND 158,520/kg).
Malaysian ASTA black pepper and Malaysian ASTA white pepper also remained unchanged, maintaining prices at USD 8,900/ton (VND 235,138/kg) and USD 11,750/ton (VND 310,435/kg), respectively.
It can be seen that, although the global market is somewhat quiet, Vietnamese pepper prices still show positive signals with a slight increase in all three product types.
According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), in July 2025, Vietnam exported about 22,000 tons of pepper, reaching a turnover of 143 million USD, down 5.8% in volume and 9.4% in turnover compared to the previous month, but up 1% in volume and 10.4% in turnover compared to the same period in 2024.
Pepper price outlook in the future
According to Ms. Hoang Thi Lien, President of the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), pepper prices in the second half of 2025 are forecast to increase again thanks to:
Major markets, especially the US, will increase purchases to ensure supply for processing plants. Demand that was "compressed" in the first half of the year due to complicated tariffs will boost purchasing activities in the second half.
The limited purchases in the second quarter have reduced supply in the market, creating upward pressure on prices. When issues related to VAT and import tax are clarified, businesses will be more confident in trading, helping the market to become vibrant again.
However, pepper prices may still face some challenges:
Tariff regulations from major markets such as the US may continue to affect business sentiment. Pepper prices from countries such as Indonesia, Brazil, and Malaysia remain stable, which may create competitive pressure on Vietnamese pepper.
