Accordingly, Musang King durian grade A continues to hold the leading position in the market, with prices ranging from 115,000 - 120,000 VND/kg - the highest among all varieties and regions. Musang King grades B and C are also purchased at 85,000 - 90,000 VND/kg respectively and the price is negotiable depending on quality.
In the Mekong Delta region, the price of VIP Thai durian is being traded at around 90,000 VND/kg, while grade 1 ranges from 75,000 - 77,000 VND/kg, grade 2 is around 55,000 - 57,000 VND/kg and grade 3 is at 47,000 VND/kg.
Regarding Ri6 durian, VIP type costs 55,000 VND/kg, type 1 is around 45,000 - 46,000 VND/kg, type 2 is only 32,000 VND/kg and type 3 is often negotiated directly between sellers and traders. Musang King - the highest quality type - is purchased stably with type A at 115,000 - 120,000 VND/kg, type B from 85,000 - 90,000 VND/kg and type C is also negotiated.
In the Southeast region, especially in Dong Nai, Binh Phuoc and Tay Ninh provinces, the price of grade 1 Thai durian is being purchased at 77,000 - 82,000 VND/kg. Grade 2 is priced at 57,000 - 62,000 VND/kg, and grade 3 ranges from 45,000 - 48,000 VND/kg. Ri6 durian in this region has a lower price than in the West, with grade 1 at 40,000 - 45,000 VND/kg, grade 2 at around 28,000 - 30,000 VND/kg and grade 3 continues to be negotiated by shipment.
Prices between provinces in the region also have a certain difference: Dong Nai recorded a slightly higher price than Binh Phuoc and Tay Ninh, however the difference is not large, mainly due to the quality and uniformity of early-season durian.
In the Central Highlands, durian prices are still lower than in the other two regions. Grade 1 Thai durian currently ranges from 70,000 to 75,000 VND/kg, grade 2 is around 55,000 VND/kg and grade 3 is at 45,000 VND/kg.
For Ri6 durian, type 1 is purchased at around 40,000 - 42,000 VND/kg, type 2 at 28,000 VND/kg and type 3 has no fixed price but is negotiated between traders and growers.
The Central Highlands region has the advantage of large output, slower harvest time and the crop season usually lasts until the end of July and the beginning of August, so although prices are not high, transactions take place regularly and are not "broken" like in regions that have early harvests.
The overall market shows that durian prices today, June 22, continue to be stable following the trend of the past few days, without any unusual fluctuations. Traders are selectively purchasing good products, especially Thai durian grade 1 and Musang King grade A to serve the high-end export market. Meanwhile, bucket and grade 3 durian are mainly consumed domestically.
In the short term, durian prices are forecast to fluctuate little if there are no more positive signals from China and Northeast Asian markets for exports. High logistics costs and strict inspections are still major barriers that make many businesses hesitant to reserve gardens or place deposits to purchase large quantities.
