Vietnam's rice export prices remain stable, low-emission rice reaches Japanese market at record prices
According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), Vietnam's rice export prices on June 17, 2025, have not fluctuated compared to before. 5% broken rice is currently trading at $388/ton, lower than the prices of Thailand ($401/ton) and Pakistan ($392/ton), while the same type of rice from India remains at the lowest level of $382/ton. The price of 25% broken rice remains at $364/ton, while 100% broken rice is at $318/ton.
In the context of increasingly fierce international market competition, Vietnam has just recorded an important step forward when the first 500 tons of low-emission rice branded “Green Vietnamese Rice” were exported to Japan, the most demanding market in the world .
The shipment, supplied by Trung An High-Tech Agriculture Joint Stock Company, reached a price of 850 USD/ton FOB at Ho Chi Minh City port, and over 1,000 USD/ton if calculated according to CIF price, equivalent to high-quality Thai Hom Mali rice and double the price of regular Vietnamese fragrant rice.
This is the first rice product in Vietnam produced under the emission reduction linkage model and is also the initial result of the Project to develop 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice in the Mekong Delta by 2030, according to Decision 1490/QD-TTg approved by the Prime Minister on November 27, 2023.
Following this success, it is expected that by October 2025, an additional 3,000 tons of ST25 rice with low emission certification will be exported to Australia, continuing to affirm the position and quality of Vietnamese rice on the global agricultural map.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, this is an opportunity to reshape rice production methods in the Mekong Delta, which accounts for more than 50% of the country's rice output, towards high-quality products with brands and sustainable added value.
