In the Mekong Delta, CL 555 raw rice decreased by VND50 to VND8,200-8,300/kg; OM 380 decreased by VND100 to VND7,850-7,900/kg. Other raw rice varieties such as IR 504, OM 18, OM 5451 and Jasmine generally remained stable.

In retail markets, rice prices remained unchanged. Fragrant rice fluctuated at VND18,000-22,000/kg; regular rice at VND15,000-16,000/kg; Nang Nhen rice continued to be the highest at VND28,000/kg.

The price of glutinous rice and by-products also remained stable. Fresh and dried glutinous rice was commonly priced at VND7,700 - 8,000/kg, while IR 4625 (dried) glutinous rice was priced at VND9,700 - 9,900/kg. The price of OM 5451 broken rice was around VND7,400 - 7,500/kg; bran ranged from VND7,700 - 7,800/kg; and rice husk was at VND1,000 - 1,150/kg.

According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), Vietnam's rice export prices on June 11 did not record any new fluctuations. Specifically, 5% broken rice remained at $393 per ton, higher than Pakistan ($392 per ton) and India ($384 per ton), but lower than Thailand ($401 per ton). 25% broken rice and 100% broken rice were offered at $364 and $321 per ton, respectively.

On the supply side, An Giang province aims to cultivate 618,000 hectares of rice in 2025, with an expected output of over 4 million tons. The highlight of the local rice industry is the orientation to shift to high-quality, environmentally friendly production, serving official export.

Cultivation models following the standards of “1 must, 5 reductions”, VietGAP and GlobalGAP are being replicated. Many growing areas have international codes and certifications, helping An Giang rice expand exports to demanding markets such as the US, South Korea and the EU.

Currently, more than 90% of An Giang's rice exports are still concentrated in Asia, the rest is distributed to Europe, Africa and Oceania. However, export activities still face many challenges due to the impact of the global economic recession and geopolitical tensions.

Although India has resumed rice exports, it is estimated that this has had little impact on Vietnam's high-quality rice market share. Indian rice is mainly in the low-cost raw material group, while Vietnam, especially An Giang, is promoting fragrant, specialty, and organic rice lines, targeting the high-end segment.

The An Giang Department of Industry and Trade said it will continue to promote trade, connect businesses with trade counselors, and expand international distribution channels. Notably, from 2025, the province will implement the An Giang rice branding project to enhance its position in the world market, through official exports and cross-border e-commerce.
