50 years ago, Ia Pnôn Border Post was established with the goal of protecting political security, social order and safety, protecting the government and people of E1 commune, zone 5 (now Ia Pnôn commune, Gia Lai province). After half a century of building, fighting and growing, the unit has always played a key role in protecting territorial sovereignty and maintaining security and order in the border area.

In the early stages of its establishment, the unit closely coordinated with other forces to fight the Khmer Rouge, fight against reactionary forces, and maintain stability and peace for the people. Notably, on August 21, 1975, in E1 commune, zone 5 (now Ia Nan commune), Border Post 21 (the predecessor of Ia Pnôn Post) discovered and prevented 12 Khmer Rouge soldiers from crossing the border. With a resolute spirit, the unit's officers and soldiers, together with the government and the people, organized a direct struggle, forcing the invading soldiers to retreat.
At the end of 1977, in response to the plot to wage war by Division 801 (Northeastern Military Region of Cambodia), when the enemy continuously planted mines, built artillery positions and sent soldiers to infiltrate, Border Guard Station 653 (the new name of the unit) raised its vigilance, coordinated with other forces, proactively patrolled and protected the border. When the enemy infiltrated, the unit resolutely opened fire to punish, protect the lives and property of the people... With its outstanding achievements, in 1978, the unit received a congratulatory flower basketfrom President Ton Duc Thang and was awarded the Second Class Fatherland Protection Medal.

Along with maintaining territorial sovereignty, political security and social order in the area, the unit is also a symbol of national solidarity. The "Green Uniform" soldiers are always closely attached to the people; implementing many models to help people develop the economy, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, preserve cultural identity and provide timely support in natural disasters and floods. With their continuous contributions over the past 50 years, the officers and soldiers of Ia Pnôn Border Guard Station have been honored to receive many noble awards from the Party, State, Army and Gia Lai province.
Upholding tradition, officers and soldiers of Ia Pnôn Border Guard Station uphold the spirit of solidarity, strive to overcome all difficulties, excellently complete assigned tasks, firmly protect territorial sovereignty and national border security, worthy of the trust of the Party, State and People.

On this occasion, Ia Pnôn Border Guard Station was honored to receive a certificate of merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and 3 collectives and 7 individuals received certificates of merit from the Provincial Border Guard Command for their achievements in the construction and development of the Station on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its founding (July 11, 1975 - July 11, 2025).
