Dong Ung Chicken Rice: Simple flavor that keeps diners coming back

(GLO)- With its rich and unique flavor, recently, the chicken rice dish at Dong Ung 2 Cuisine Restaurant (154 Pham Ngoc Thach, Thong Nhat Ward, Gia Lai Province) has become a familiar meeting place for many diners from near and far.

Each serving of Dong Ung chicken rice looks simple at first glance with a plate of golden rice and crispy fried chicken. However, when enjoying, diners can feel each grain of sticky rice with the fragrant smell of turmeric, soaked in the light fatty taste of chicken broth. The chicken skin is crispy but the meat inside is not less tender and sweet.

Coming to the restaurant, diners can also order refreshing bitter melon soup with shrimp or sweet and sour sorrel soup to enjoy with chicken rice. This combination will also create harmony, creating an unforgettable taste for those who have enjoyed it.

Every day, the restaurant sells 70-80 chicken rice portions, each portion costs from 45,000 VND. All the chickens used to prepare the dishes are fresh, delivered by the supplier early in the morning and say no to frozen chicken.

“The principle at Dong Ung restaurant is that the chickens are imported on the same day and sold out on the same day, not left until the next day. We prioritize suppliers of free-range chickens. This is also the principle for the restaurant to always maintain the quality and flavor of the dishes, as well as gain the trust of customers,” said Mr. Dinh Cong Thu, owner of Dong Ung 2 Cuisine Restaurant.

Although it has only been open for selling chicken rice for lunch and dinner for 3 months, Dong Ung 2 Cuisine has become a "favorite" restaurant for many people in the mountain town of Pleiku as well as neighboring localities.

Mr. Hoang Van Tu (Thong Nhat Ward) shared: “What makes me most satisfied when choosing Dong Ung 2 Cuisine is the quality of the chicken at the restaurant. Whether fried, boiled or braised, the chicken is juicy, not dry, very fresh and delicious. In addition to having rice for lunch, I used to often come to the restaurant to enjoy chicken pho every morning."

Dong Ung 2 Cuisine is selling chicken rice dishes such as: roast chicken, boiled chicken, shredded chicken salad, crispy fried chicken, braised chicken and sweet and sour rib rice for diners to change the taste.

What makes Dong Ung chicken rice brand is not the sophistication, but the meticulousness in each serving. The chicken is carefully selected, fried until golden brown, the rice is cooked with chicken broth to make the rice grains soft and fragrant, the spices are seasoned to taste. The restaurant space is rustic, the wooden tables and chairs are simple but give diners a familiar, close feeling like they are dining with relatives in their own home.

In a time when many restaurants follow the trend of modern decoration and rich menu, Dong Ung still maintains its own path. And perhaps, it is this perseverance that helps the restaurant survive and stay with customers for a long time.

Good news spreads far and wide, not only locals but also more and more tourists come to Dong Ung 2 Cuisine to enjoy chicken rice, especially on weekends or holidays.

“I heard from friends that the chicken rice at Dong Ung 2 is quite delicious, so I stopped by to try it. My first impression was that the portion was quite full, the chicken was crispy but the meat was still soft; the rice was soft and fragrant, not dry like many other places. After eating, I understood why the restaurant is so popular despite being located quite far from the center. If I have the chance to come back, I will definitely visit again” - Ms. Tran Thi Hanh ( Kon Tum ward, Quang Ngai province) shared.
