Pig price in the North

Prices in most localities in the North decreased by 2,000 to 3,000 VND/kg compared to the beginning of the week, commonly in the range of 63,000 - 64,000 VND/kg.

Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Lao Cai, Lai Chau , Son La recorded the lowest level - 63,000 VND/kg.

Hanoi, Bac Giang, Hung Yen and Nam Dinh are currently leading the region with the highest price - 64,000 VND/kg.

Pig price in Central Highlands

This is the area with the lowest pork price in the country at present, fluctuating between 61,000 - 66,000 VND/kg with a significant difference between provinces.

In Gia Lai, the price was recorded at 61,000 VND/kg. Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak and Nghe An all reached 63,000 to 64,000 VND/kg. Thanh Hoa and Binh Dinh currently have prices fluctuating between 65,000 - 66,000 VND/kg.

Pig price in the South

Some localities in the Southern region recorded a slight decrease of 1,000 to 2,000 VND/kg. In Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Can Tho and Ca Mau, the price reached 66,000 VND/kg. Ho Chi Minh City, An Giang and Vinh Long maintained at 64,000 - 65,000 VND/kg.

Last week, the live hog market in all three regions continued to follow a downward trend, starting from the middle of last week, in which the Northern and Central Highlands regions saw the sharpest decline with up to 3,000 VND/kg. Abundant supply while consumer purchasing power has not improved has caused the market to temporarily stagnate.

Experts say that next week, live pig prices are likely to continue to decrease slightly due to the following factors: Supply is still abundant, while domestic consumption demand has not recovered; Consumer sentiment is affected by incidents related to sick pigs; Live pig exports through unofficial channels to China have not yet been reopened.

Farms, traders and slaughterhouses need to proactively monitor market fluctuations, while strengthening disease control and monitoring the origin of pigs to ensure the safety of the food supply chain.
