Meeting with leaders of Laos and Cambodia, Prime Minister proposes promoting traffic connectivity

On the afternoon of November 6, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a bilateral meeting with Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet.


The meeting took place on the occasion of the Prime Minister leading the Vietnamese delegation to attend the 8th GMS, 10th ACMECS and 11th CLMV Conferences in Kunming (China).

The two sides agreed to deepen the pillar of defense and security cooperation, ensure solid support for each other, continue to maintain security, and build a peaceful, friendly, stable, and sustainably developing Vietnam-Laos border.

The two Prime Ministers paid special attention and agreed to continue creating breakthroughs in economic and trade cooperation.

Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone affirmed that Laos always attaches importance to and prioritizes Vietnamese enterprises investing and doing business in Laos, especially in strategic areas such as infrastructure, energy, high technology, transport connectivity, etc.

The two sides also wish to promote economic connectivity between Laos and Vietnam and cooperate in improving the legal system to facilitate trade and investment activities.

During the meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, the two sides agreed to strengthen defense and security cooperation and closely coordinate in the fight against hostile forces' plots to sabotage and divide relations between the two countries.

At the same time, the two leaders encouraged and facilitated investment and business activities of enterprises of the two countries, striving to achieve the target of bilateral trade turnover reaching 20 billion USD soon in the coming time.

The two sides pledged to promote transport connectivity, especially in border areas, to facilitate border trade as well as people-to-people exchanges between border provinces.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that both sides promote the settlement of areas where border demarcation and marker planting have not been completed.

The two Prime Ministers emphasized the significance and historical value of the Vietnam - Cambodia - Laos relationship; affirmed to continue maintaining cooperation mechanisms between the three countries in all channels, for the benefit of the people of the three countries, for peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh happily accepted the invitation of Prime Minister Hun Manet to soon pay an official visit to Cambodia, a suitable time will be arranged through diplomatic channels.
