Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Hai Phong Journalists Association Nguyen Anh Tu said that the Hai Phong City Press Award 2023-2024 was launched on June 16, 2023 to encourage and promote the creative labor emulation movement among journalists in the city. The award contributes to improving political and professional qualifications and encouraging the creation of high-quality journalistic works of great social value. At the same time, this is also an opportunity to honor outstanding authors and works, discover and nurture journalistic talents, affirm the role and responsibility of journalists towards society and the country, contributing to improving the quality and innovation of journalism to serve the cause of building and developing a modern, civilized city and implementing industrialization and modernization of the country.
On behalf of the city's leaders, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong acknowledged, highly appreciated and commended the important contributions of press agencies. The Hai Phong City Press Award 2023-2024 is an award of profound political, social and humanistic significance. The scale of this year's award has been expanded in terms of quantity, award structure and award levels, including all types of journalism. This demonstrates the interest and honor for journalism, while affirming the important position and role of journalism in the city's development.
After 2 years of launching, the City Press Awards Council has received nearly 100 entries from local branches, inter-branch associations of journalists and central press agencies. Many entries were presented in print, electronic, radio and television, reflecting various areas of the city's economic and social life. In particular, many articles have deeply reflected the results of implementing Resolution 45 of the Politburo on building and developing Hai Phong city to 2030, with a vision to 2045; Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and Resolution of the 16th National Party Congress of the City.
The selection and awarding process clearly shows the ripple effect from printed, electronic, radio and television works. The works have contributed to encouraging and praising good and creative practices of all levels, sectors, units and localities, associated with the practical development of the city. Many works are invested in carefully, closely following the major policies of the city, especially in creating an attractive investment environment, attracting large economic groups to Hai Phong. Some works clearly demonstrate the city's orientation and determination in developing three economic pillars: high-tech industry, seaports - logistics, tourism - trade, contributing to building Hai Phong into a modern, smart, sustainable and livable industrial city.
The Hai Phong City Press Award 2023-2024 was awarded to 33 outstanding works by authors and groups of authors in many genres. This is the foundation of the city's development orientation with the goal of making Hai Phong the leader of the country in the cause of industrialization and modernization, and the driving force for development of the Northern region.
