Underground station C9 will have 4 floors near Hoan Kiem Lake

C9 underground station is built underground under Dinh Tien Hoang street, passing through the square area east of Hoan Kiem Lake and the headquarters of the People's Council and People's Committee of Hanoi, with a scale of 4 floors.

The Hanoi People's Committee has just approved the route plan and construction location at a scale of 1/500 for the section from station C8 to station C10 of the urban railway line No. 2, Nam Thang Long - Tran Hung Dao section. The route will be deployed in Hoan Kiem and Cua Nam wards.

The route plan is to arrange parallel tunnels, then change to a stacked form from Hang Duong Street to Hang Chieu Street, going underground through Hang Duong, Hang Ngang, Hang Dao, Hoan Kiem Lake area, Dinh Tien Hoang Street, Hang Bai Street. Some sections of the route have two stacked tunnels.

The three main stations on this section include station C8, which remains the same as the approved plan in 2014; station C9 (Hoan Kiem Lake) built underground under Dinh Tien Hoang Street, passing through the square area, the park east of Hoan Kiem Lake and the headquarters of the People's Council and People's Committee of Hanoi, with a scale of 4 floors and a total area of ​​about 7,700m2.

Station C10 (Tran Hung Dao Station) is built at the intersection of Hang Bai - Tran Hung Dao streets, with a scale of 4 floors, a total area of ​​about 5,482m2, connecting in a cross shape with station S13 of metro line 3, creating favorable conditions for passengers to transfer lines in the future.

Station C9 is built underground under Dinh Tien Hoang Street, passing through the square area.

This route plan replaces the C8-C10 route section approved in Decision No. 2297/QD-UBND (2013) and Decision No. 861/QD-UBND (2016), and is also the basis for updating and supplementing related detailed and zoning planning projects.

According to the plan, the C9 underground station will be connected to the park space and the square east of Hoan Kiem Lake. Within the square and the eastern park, underground construction (3 basements) will be studied and constructed, optimizing the usable area, with functions including parking lots, cultural spaces, shopping centers and walkways connecting to surrounding areas.

According to this plan, station C9 has ancillary works, entrance No. 1 located in the North of the square - park east of Hoan Kiem Lake, ancillary works, entrance No. 2 located in the South, along Tran Nguyen Han Street.

Hanoi plans to start construction of metro line 2 Nam Thang Long - Tran Hung Dao on October 10, 2025. Metro line 2 Nam Thang Long - Tran Hung Dao section is 11.5km long, with 8.9km underground and 2.6km elevated.
