Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Promotion Center (under the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism) has just cooperated with The Outbox Company to apply data technology to research the tourism market for the first time in monitoring the international tourist market in Vietnam.
The project, named HCMC Global Traveler Barometer (HCMC GTB), applies tourist data technology to tourism promotion activities in Vietnam, improving research capacity and understanding the tourism market of Ho Chi Minh City; making the city the first locality in Vietnam to develop its own system to monitor and forecast the target tourist market.
Optimize the effectiveness of tourism promotion activities
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Promotion Center, the Tourist Data Tracking System project has the strategic goal of optimizing the effectiveness of Ho Chi Minh City tourism promotion activities, increasing sustainable development for the city's destinations on a data platform.
Visitor data tracking system focuses on forecasting demand and readiness of visitors from top international visitor markets.
In addition, the system will also periodically update tourist behavior and preferences and objectively measure the destination image of Ho Chi Minh City in the eyes of international tourists.
This will help the tourism industry to orient, develop and promote effectively, enhance competitiveness and affirm its leading position, pioneering innovation, especially in the context of mergers.
In 2025, the system will pilot data tracking in 13 key markets.
The Visitor Data Tracking System is a comprehensive and annual traveler intelligence platform for the city's tourism industry.
In 2025, the system will pilot a centralized monitoring of data from 13 key markets to Ho Chi Minh City. Including markets: Korea, Japan, Australia, China, Europe, US - Canada, and Southeast Asia.
Specifically, this advanced data system will forecast demand; travel intentions to Ho Chi Minh City of the markets; update changes in tourists' travel behavior; measure and compare the brand image and communication effectiveness of Ho Chi Minh City tourism in each market with competitors in the region.
In addition, tourist needs will be collected early in the pre-trip phase and provided with specific metrics, analyzed through in-depth data analytics models and updated periodically no more than once every 6 months.
Ms. Nguyen Cam Tu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Promotion Center, assessed that the pioneering implementation of the international tourist market monitoring and forecasting system affirms the position of Ho Chi Minh City tourism after the merger, as well as demonstrates the vision of the city's tourism industry in continuously innovating and applying technology in tourism management and development.
Through this, Ms. Tu hopes that Ho Chi Minh City tourism will develop more comprehensively, from competitiveness to enhancing the image of destinations in the region.
