Besides, Hang Dong is also a place where the Mong ethnic people live with strong cultural features. Traditional po mu wooden houses, colorful brocade costumes, the melodious sound of the panpipes in the “Horse Hoofs in the Clouds” festival, dishes with rich flavors of the mountains and forests... are precious cultural values that are being preserved and promoted.
A bright spot in the development of community tourism in Hang Dong is the participation of young people. Typically, the "Preserving Mong ethnic identity" club has more than 10 members who are diligently practicing Khen dancing, embroidery, weaving... Not only preserving traditional beauty, young people also learn tourism skills to guide experiences and promote Ta Xua to visitors from near and far.
Mr. Thao A Lo, Secretary of the Commune Youth Union, shared: Tourism is an opportunity for young people to preserve culture, have more jobs and income. Tourists like to watch art performances, learn how to make sticky rice cakes or try on Mong costumes, so we will directly guide and tell tourists about our ethnic traditions.
Currently, the whole commune has about 10 homestays that meet the standards for welcoming guests, with total tourism revenue estimated at nearly 5 billion VND/year. Although these numbers are still modest, they are a positive signal for a land that was once only familiar with farming and slash-and-burn agriculture. Many households have boldly invested in houses, traditional food cooking services, indigo dyeing, and enjoying ancient Shan Tuyet tea.
Mr. Thao A Dinh, Chong Tra village, said: At first, I was very worried about doing tourism because I didn't know how to communicate. But thanks to the commune organizing training courses and learning about tourism models in Ta Xua and Van Ho, I learned how to welcome guests and run a homestay. Nowadays, there are days when my family welcomes 30-40 guests, which not only brings in extra income but also makes me happy because I can preserve and promote the culture of the Mong people.
Despite its great potential, Hang Dong still faces many difficulties in developing community tourism due to limited transport infrastructure, many roads leading to tourist attractions have not been concreted, and are slippery and dangerous during the rainy season. The accommodation system is still limited, only meeting basic needs. Promotion is mainly through social networks, lacking connections with professional travel companies. Language is also a barrier to communication and guiding tourists. This is why skill training courses, especially for young people, need to be organized more regularly and in-depth.
To fully exploit its potential, Hang Dong needs to be connected in the inter-regional tourism chain. As a connecting point with famous landmarks such as Ta Xua, Ngoc Chien, Moc Chau... if properly planned, Hang Dong will become an important "link" in the journey to explore the culture of the Northwest. Building cross-village tourism experience routes, organizing cloud hunting tours, agricultural - cultural tourism, and expanding the homestay network will be necessary directions.
At the same time, local authorities continue to promote their role in guiding and supporting people to borrow preferential loans for tourism; training professional skills, promoting images. At the same time, it is necessary to have the coordination of sectors and organizations to build the Hang Dong community tourism brand associated with the unique, green - clean - authentic Mong cultural image.
In the future, Hang Dong will promote its potential, becoming a tourism model associated with preserving national culture, contributing to sustainable development and improving people's lives.
