According to the announcement from the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development, Ministry of Industry and Trade, E10 gasoline is expected to be widely used from the beginning of 2026. Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) will start testing the distribution of E10 gasoline in Ho Chi Minh City from August 1, 2025 to assess the technical impact, before deploying it nationwide.
E10 is an unleaded biofuel that contains 9% to 10% ethanol (a biofuel) and 90% conventional gasoline. The ethanol in E10 can be produced from a variety of sources, such as crops like corn, sugarcane, or other organic materials, so E10 can help reduce CO2 emissions.
The use of E10 gasoline is part of the Government 's roadmap for blending biofuels with traditional fuels since 2012, aiming to reduce part of the amount of toxic emissions, contribute to environmental protection and support sustainable development.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade also requested functional units to coordinate and advise on the development of a roadmap for the use of E10 gasoline, expected to officially apply from January 1, 2026.
