Lien Nghia Parish in Nga Thai Commune (Nga Son) has nearly 4,000 people in 7 parishes; parishioners live interspersed with non-parishioners. Thanks to the above active activities, in recent years, the economy in Lien Nghia Parish has had high growth, healthy socio-cultural development, stable politics , guaranteed national defense and security, average income per capita (in 2024) reached 66.8 million VND; the poverty rate decreased to 0.88%; over 90% of Catholic families achieved the title of cultural family; 100% of villages were recognized as meeting cultural standards; Nga Thai commune met the new rural standards, the commune met the national standards on health, the commune was safe in terms of security and order; 3/3 schools met the national standards level 2; 9/9 residential areas met the advanced residential areas...
Nga Son district has over 30,000 Catholics, accounting for 17% of the population, living in 55 residential areas of 12 communes, operating in 12 parishes and 66 parishes. Over the years, the Nga Son district Catholic Solidarity Committee (CDSC) has always identified the implementation of the 10 contents of the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas, live a good life and good religion" as one of the core tasks throughout its work program. Every year, the standing committee of the district CDSC always proactively develops plans and implements them synchronously; At the same time, closely coordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front, member organizations of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, dignitaries, officials and pastoral councils of parishes in the district to create high unity in action, to well organize patriotic emulation movements and campaigns with the response and active participation of Catholics such as: Donating land to expand roads, planting flowers to replace weeds along the road, peaceful parish, exemplary Catholic families...
The positive contributions of Catholics have contributed to the overall achievements of Nga Son district: 100% of villages and 100% of communes have achieved NTM; of which 3 communes have achieved advanced NTM, 2 communes have achieved model NTM, 19 villages have achieved model NTM, and Nga Son district has achieved NTM district.
Together with the District Catholic Registration Board, the Catholic Registration Teams of the communes also promoted propaganda and mobilized Catholics to actively participate in economic development and build new production models to improve income and living standards. From the labor force, in the parishes, many examples of good production and business of Catholics have emerged. A typical example is the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Dai, a parishioner of Tam Tong parish (Nga Lien commune), who pioneered the conversion of 2.5 sao of ineffective sedge land and more than 3.5 sao of mixed garden land to peach growing. With about 600 peach trees from Son La, his family currently earns a profit of about 200 million VND per year. Or the family of Mr. Hoang Van Thoai, a parishioner of Mong An parish (Nga Dien commune), has a comprehensive farm model, earning an income of 100-150 million VND per year...
Actively participating in charitable, humanitarian andeducational socialization activities, parishes, chapels and parishioners of Nga Son district actively participate in supporting the construction of the "For the Poor" fund, building Great Unity houses; contributing to the "Repaying gratitude" fund; regularly organizing activities to visit and give gifts to the poor and disadvantaged families on the occasion of Lent, Easter, and Lunar New Year every year with nearly 2,000 gifts, worth more than 800 million VND... In particular, implementing Directive No. 22-CT/TU of the Provincial Party Standing Committee on the Campaign to support the construction of houses for poor households, policy households, and households with housing difficulties in the province in the two years 2024-2025, Catholics together with the people in the district have supported more than 15.37 billion VND. From the above support source, 122 households were supported to build and repair houses with a cost of 9.12 billion VND; Muong Lat district was supported with 1.2 billion VND, Ba Thuoc district with 960 million VND, and transferred to the provincial Fatherland Front with 3.5 billion VND.
