According to the Insurance Supervision and Management Department ( Ministry of Finance ), for non-life insurance, the total expected insurance compensation is 4.2 billion VND.
Of which, the ship owner's civil liability insurance for passengers and crew accident insurance (Bao Long) is expected to be 1.2 billion VND; passenger accident insurance (Bao Viet co-insurance with PTI, MIC, BSH) is expected to be 2 billion VND in compensation; credit insurance (AAA) is expected to be 1 billion VND in compensation.
For life insurance, the total expected insurance payment is 10.07 billion VND (Bao Viet 2 billion VND, Generali 4.2 billion VND, Manulife 3.02 billion, Dai-ichi 0.7 billion, Prudential 0.1 billion VND, AIA 0.05 billion).
Insurance companies have proactively contacted the families of the victims to compensate and pay insurance money. However, according to information from insurance companies, the victims' families have not yet completed the procedures to receive insurance benefits because they are still in the process of treatment and funeral arrangements.
Previously, the Department of Insurance Management and Supervision sent a document to the Vietnam Insurance Association and insurance companies, requesting coordination with relevant agencies, organizations and individuals to determine the damage of organizations and individuals participating in insurance.
