With the theme "Expand the frame, reach out brilliantly", the CJ 2025 Short Film Project continues to nurture Vietnamese cinema.
The 6th season of CJ Short Film Project continues to expand its support for short film directors with the appearance of a companion mentor, affirming the serious and persistent investment in nurturing young talent for the Vietnamese film industry.
A very special new feature of this year's program is the appearance for the first time of an Alumni Mentor, director Pham Ngoc Lan, who will play the role of giving advice, guidance and support to the Top 5 contestants during the stage of submitting their short films to prestigious international film festivals.
Pham Ngoc Lan is one of the outstanding directors from season 1 of the CJ Short Film Project in 2018, who made a big splash with the award for best debut feature film at the 2024 Berlin Film Festival with the work "Cu li khong bao nhat cry".
Chairman of Vietnam Cinema Association, Associate Professor, Dr. Do Lenh Hung Tu spoke at the announcement ceremony of CJ 2025 Short Film Project.
According to the organizers, the Vietnamese film industry still needs more playgrounds and programs to nurture and support the young generation of directors. The CJ Short Film Project is a valuable opportunity, providing not only funding but also training, mentoring and connecting with leading experts. This is a solid stepping stone to help young filmmakers confidently express their identity and make their mark on the international stage.
Chairman of the Vietnam Cinema Association, Associate Professor Dr. Do Lenh Hung Tu said: "Looking back at the journey we have gone through, the contestants from season 1 such as director Pham Thien An with the Golden Palm for his debut film at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, director Pham Ngoc Lan with the award at the 2024 Berlin Film Festival or director Duong Dieu Linh with the award at the 2024 Venice Film Festival have proven that Vietnamese cinema can absolutely make its mark on the world cinema map. This year, I hope that the project will continue to give wings to new stories and new perspectives."
