Put into resolution
For many years, residents of My Tan 1 residential area, An Hai ward have been in high agreement with the policy of donating land to widen the roadway of alley 211 Nguyen Van Thoai, which is more than 350m long and 3.5m wide on average. The section of alley Nguyen Van Thoai connecting to Lam Hoanh street with a "bottleneck" is only about 2.5m wide.
This area is near My Khe beach, densely populated, many domestic and foreign tourists come to stay, work, study, visit and relax.
The alley is narrow, making it difficult for ambulances and fire trucks to move in. Based on this reality, for many years, the My Tan 1 residential area Party cell has included in its resolution a call for people to donate land and petition the higher-level Party committee and authorities to widen the road.
Since 2021, when Da Nang city has a policy to expand many roads from the road width of 3.5-3.75m to 5-5.5m, the Party Cell of My Tan 1 residential area is even more determined and persistent in carrying out the tasks included in the resolution.

Untie the knot
The biggest problem is the “bottleneck” at the intersection with Lam Hoanh Street, which is blocked by 3 houses. However, after many years of continuous petitions, in 2024, the city was able to clear these 3 houses with a plan to resettle them on the spot, facing Lam Hoanh Street and providing financial support for people to rebuild their houses.
Mr. Ho Bon, Head of the Front Work Committee of My Tan Residential Area, encouraged road workers.
Along with that, in August 2024, the project to upgrade and renovate the road surface and drainage ditches of lanes 23, 32, 35, 65 of To Hien Thanh Street and lane 211 of Nguyen Van Thoai Street was approved for investment by competent authorities.
People were excited, many households voluntarily dismantled fences, gates, house walls... to give up land to serve the road expansion construction. According to statistics, the area that people voluntarily donated was more than 400m2 , while the market price of land in lane 211 Nguyen Van Thoai Street at one point reached 120 million VND/ m2 . That is not to mention the cost that people spent themselves to dismantle fences, gates, house walls... and then build 0.5-1m deeper inside.
“
"The total area of land donated by the people is more than 400m2 , estimated to be worth more than 10 billion VND. Each household spent about 10 million VND to renovate the front of the house after removing the walls, fences, and gates to make way for road expansion."
Mr. Ho Bon, Head of the Front Work Committee of My Tan 1 residential area, An Hai ward
By the end of July 2025, 123 households along Lane 211 Nguyen Van Thoai had completed handing over their land. The Party Committee and Party cell of the residential area are mobilizing the remaining 7 households to quickly remove fences, gates, etc. to hand over the land to the construction unit.
The current obstacles are the power supply poles, lighting poles, and telecommunication poles that have not been relocated. Ms. Ngo Thi Tuyet Hong, Secretary of the Party Cell of My Tan 1 residential area, said that the Party Cell, the residential area front and the neighborhood group will focus on mobilizing and supporting people to hand over the land as soon as possible.
Workers are actively completing drainage connections from houses to sewers to soon pave the road surface.
At the same time, continue to recommend that functional units soon relocate electric poles, lighting poles, and telecommunication cables so that the road can be expanded soon, meeting the needs and aspirations of the people.
“
"My family dismantled the fence and gate, rebuilt them 0.8m deep and 8m long to work with the people of My Tan residential area to widen the road to be spacious and airy."
Mr. Ho Pho, resident of My Tan 1 residential area, An Hai ward
