Dong Nai strengthens inspection, testing, and strict handling of violations related to fake and poor quality cosmetics

(DN) - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Son Hung signed and issued Document No. 7243/UBND-KGVX dated June 9, 2025 of the Provincial People's Committee on strengthening coordination, inspection, examination, and strict handling of organizations and individuals involved in the production, business, advertising, and sale of fake and poor quality cosmetics.

The provincial leaders assigned the Department of Health to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade, the provincial police and relevant units to urgently review and inspect production and business establishments, promptly detect and recall counterfeit and poor quality goods and strictly handle violations. Strengthen strict management of wholesale and retail activities, ensure traceability of origin, invoices and documents.

Strengthen inspection and management of wholesale and retail establishments; only cosmetics that have been granted circulation registration certificates, have invoices, documents and origins in accordance with regulations are allowed to be bought and sold.

The Department of Health has directed to increase sampling and quality control of cosmetics at risk of being counterfeited, of poor quality or showing signs of false advertising circulating in the province. Strengthen information and communication activities on the risks and harms of using counterfeit cosmetics of unknown origin; raise public awareness, do not arbitrarily use products advertised on social networks. Strengthen inspection and post-inspection of cosmetic production and trading establishments in the area, promptly prevent, handle violations, and recall counterfeit and poor quality products circulating in the market.

The provincial leaders assigned the Provincial Steering Committee 389/DP to direct the provincial interdisciplinary inspection team 389/DP to inspect and control the production, circulation and trading of cosmetics of unknown origin. Focus on monitoring and detecting establishments and subjects producing fake and poor quality cosmetics in key areas, market areas, distribution centers and warehouses.

The provincial police have the task of directing specialized departments and commune-level police to strengthen their grasp of the situation, detect, prevent and promptly handle acts of producing and trading fake and poor-quality cosmetics, and strictly handle violations according to the provisions of law.

The provincial leaders assigned other relevant departments, branches and localities in the province to strictly carry out the assigned tasks. In case of delay or lax management leading to serious consequences, they will be fully responsible before the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and the law.

Regarding the production of counterfeit and poor quality goods, on May 29, 2025, the Investigation Police Agency of Dong Nai Provincial Police issued a decision to prosecute the criminal case of "production and trading of counterfeit goods" occurring at EBC Dong Nai Medical Factory Joint Stock Company (located in Trang Bom district) for investigation and handling according to regulations.
