Rename 2 specialized high schools after province and city merger

Bac Ninh Specialized High School and Bac Giang Specialized High School were renamed Bac Ninh Specialized High School No. 1 and Bac Ninh Specialized High School No. 2, respectively, after the two localities merged.

specifically, according to the decision of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province (established from the merger of Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces), Bac Ninh Specialized High School changed its name to Bac Ninh Specialized High School No. 1, and Bac Giang Specialized High School has a new name, Bac Ninh Specialized High School No. 2.

These are 2 of 80 public service units under the Department of Education and Training of Bac Ninh .

This change is effective from July 1.

After the merger of provinces and cities, many localities have 2-3 specialized schools. Bac Ninh is the first province to change the names of specialized schools after the merger.

Regarding the merger issue, the Ministry of Education and Training said that in 2025, the review of the curriculum and textbooks will be carried out in the context of the whole country implementing the arrangement of provincial-level administrative units. The Ministry of Education and Training has identified a number of subjects that are directly affected by the change of administrative boundaries, including: History and Geography for grades 4, 5, and 9; Geography for grade 12; History and Economic and Legal Education for grade 10. These subjects will take steps according to regulations to edit the subject curriculum, which will serve as a basis for editing textbooks, such as updating requirements to be achieved, knowledge content, place names, data, maps, charts, and socio-economic information, etc.

Teachers and schools are given the right to proactively arrange learning topics, update and supplement content to suit the students, teaching and learning conditions and practice. In the 2025-2026 school year, teachers and schools will continue to use the current curriculum and textbooks, while proactively selecting and adjusting teaching materials, lessons and topics to suit local practice and the two-level government model.
