Two pillars of information make up the newspaper's identity
The Journalist & Public Opinion Newspaper carries on its shoulders an important dual mission in the press system, being both a publication of the Vietnam Journalists Association and a forum for exchanging information and expertise among journalists and those interested in journalism. Over the past 30 years, how has the editorial office promoted its strengths to be worthy of its role as the mouthpiece of the Vietnam Journalists Association?
Since its establishment in 1996, the Journalist & Public Opinion Newspaper has always been aware of its role and mission as the mouthpiece of the Vietnam Journalists Association and the national press forum. Therefore, for nearly 30 years, the Newspaper has always identified two main information pillars, creating the identity of the newspaper.
Firstly, it is an in-depth information stream, full of criticality and orientation, expressing a unique perspective, thereby contributing to creating correct public opinion on important issues occurring in all aspects of political, economic and social life, proactively providing information in the right direction, and contributing to creating correct public opinion.
With this information pillar, the Newspaper has built a series of columns such as Dialogue with Public Opinion, Public Opinion Forum, Readers with Public Opinion, Perspectives... on the printed newspaper Journalists and Public Opinion; columns such as Perspectives; Vietnam - The Era of Rising... on the online newspaper congluan.vn... with the participation of contributors as well as long-time writers of the newspaper, which are highly appreciated by readers. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Newspaper Journalists & Public Opinion was evaluated by the Press Department ( Ministry of Information and Communications , now the Press Department of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) as one of the newspapers with great influence.

Second, it is a stream of information that is both closely updated and in-depth, analyzing and clarifying developments and development trends in domestic and international press and media life as well as the activities of the Vietnam Journalists Association.

Specifically, on the paper Journalist & Public Opinion, the newspaper builds specialized columns on journalism and media such as Journalism, Behind the Scenes of Journalism, Global Journalism Highway, Journalism-Media Highway... columns on the Vietnam Journalists Association and local Journalists Associations, and branches such as Association Work...
On the online newspaper congluan.vn, the newspaper also builds specialized columns on domestic and international press as well as activities of the Vietnam Journalists Association such as Journalism, Press-Media, Anti-fake news; Press-Technology, Association activities, etc. with a large amount of news articles, constantly updated on all developments in the life of domestic and international press, media and technology.
In particular, in order to further improve its operating principles and purposes, the newspaper also regularly organizes special topics and series of articles that delve into issues of journalism and communication and the Association's work on the paper Journalists & Public Opinion and the online newspaper congluan.vn, which are highly appreciated by colleagues and have won many awards at the National Press Awards as well as other press awards.
Towards diversifying information transmission platforms
In the general development of modern journalism, how has the editorial office changed its operations to maintain and develop the newspaper in the current trend of journalism development while still maintaining its identity?
In today's stormy technological era, studies have confirmed that if the press does not continuously innovate, how can it keep up with the movement of society, how can it grasp and conquer the public? Obviously, the press is facing turning-point issues that require strong changes and innovation to ensure proactive orientation and information guidance in the face of the strong development of social media. The Journalist & Public Opinion Newspaper is no exception to that rule.
Grasping that spirit, the Journalist & Public Opinion Newspaper is continuing to comprehensively innovate in all aspects, from content to staff, to implementation mechanism... to bring the newspaper into a new period of development. In the modern era of journalism, breaking news, fast news, exclusive news... are undeniably the "life and death" demands of each editorial office. However, the way each newspaper handles information will affirm its class. It is also the journalists who will classify themselves. Bringing readers what they need is a professional principle that every journalist must know by heart. But that does not mean working at all costs, trampling on ethical standards of humanity. This is also the guideline that the Journalist & Public Opinion Newspaper sets for its reporters in the process and method of working.

The strong digital transformation process, the wave of science and technology and the birth of Resolution 18-NQ/TW have been placing dual requirements on press agencies: first of all, "lean", then "refine". This means that press agencies not only need to reduce the number of staff but also have to screen and streamline the team, eliminate individuals and organizations that no longer meet the development requirements, improve the quality of the team of reporters and journalists, improve the quality of both writing skills and adapting to and operating new media technologies.
In the development trend of modern journalism as well as the requirements of Resolution 18-NQ/TW, the Journalist & Public Opinion Newspaper has been completing the merger while simultaneously streamlining and screening personnel who do not meet the requirements of the editorial office's tasks, and at the same time assigning, assigning tasks as well as training and fostering the entire editorial office's staff not only in professional knowledge but also in technological knowledge and professional ethics. If you want to go far, you have to come close.
