The Literature exam for the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year in Hanoi retains the structure of two parts: Reading and Writing, similar to the reference exam format announced by the Hanoi Departmentof Education and Training.

Teachers commented that this year's exam has some new points. According to Ms. Dinh Thi Huong, a Literature teacher at Tuyensinh247, this year's official entrance exam for grade 10 Literature has a strong change when the entire exam does not use materials from textbooks.

In 2024, the exam was divided into 2 parts with a score of 6.5 and 3.5 points respectively, this year, it is 4.0 and 6.0 points for the two parts corresponding to the specific requirements of the Reading section: reading free verse texts and answering related questions: poetic form, images, content, rhetorical devices...; Writing section: literary argumentative paragraph analyzing a stanza and social argumentative essay on how to find joy in school life.

With the above structure, according to Ms. Dinh Thi Huong, candidates will continue to practice reading comprehension skills in part I, but will focus more on expressing emotions, thoughts and personal opinions.

In part II, the literary argumentative essay helps students analyze and perceive the content and artistic value of the last five verses. According to the teacher, the social argumentative essay is very good and meaningful, the social argumentative topic is chosen close to life, helping students express their opinions and thoughts on practical topics, suitable for their age: "How to find joy in school age".

“The test is suitable for students, not too difficult and has relevant and current content. The questions are appropriate, allowing students to express their personal views and opinions. The differentiation of the test will mainly be in the paragraph and essay writing sections,” commented Ms. Dinh Thi Huong.

The content of the excerpt from the poem “Happiness” by author Giang Nam is very close to the life of students and families, expressing the simple dreams and simple joys of each citizen after the war. Especially at the present time, when family values ​​and simple happiness are promoted in the face of social changes, this exam question is even more topical and has profound humanistic meaning.

Master Le Minh Thu, Head of the Literature Department, Hoa Binh - La Trobe High School - Hanoi, assessed that this year's Literature exam for grade 10 in Hanoi ensures that students can be classified. The questions with cognitive levels: recognition, understanding, application in 120 minutes of testing ensure reasonableness, within the ability, but also require students to control their time to achieve good results.

In the Reading Comprehension section, besides the familiar requirements, students can quickly give answers, such as: identifying the poetic form, recording words and images expressing the father's wishes, question 3 with the requirement of understanding the content of the verse combined with the context of the poem's composition - is a good question to assess the students' ability to analyze, perceive and also to relate and reason.

The social discussion section with the content “how to always find joy in school life” raises practical and close discussion issues. However, to achieve high scores will also be a challenge for students when they have to come up with practical, appropriate solutions, showing deep and sincere insights.

According to Literature teacher Dinh Thi Huong, the Literature exam for admission to grade 10 in Hanoi for the 2025-2026 school year closely follows the knowledge in the program, closely follows the output standards of the 2018 General Education Program, avoiding the situation of rote learning and learning by heart. In addition, the exam also focuses on assessing students' level of understanding, ability to receive and respond.

The content of the questions revolves around the reading and writing skills system, combining the requirements of analyzing and perceiving poetic texts - a literary genre rich in art, contributing to training students' aesthetic thinking, emotional ability and language expression. The chosen discussion topics are not too unfamiliar but close to reality, suitable for the psychology, emotions and perceptions of school-age children, and at the same time reflect the changes in thinking and concepts of the young generation in the context of modern society.

"Through expressing personal opinions and views on phenomena, events or socio-ethical values, students are trained in argumentation, critical thinking and the ability to present ideas persuasively, thereby forming independent thinking," the teacher commented.
