Recently, Thai Minh Pharmaceuticals officially inaugurated the Biological & Clinical Research Department. This is an important milestone in the long-term scientific development strategy, demonstrating a strong commitment to the shift from production to research, from exploiting traditional herbs to mastering modern biomedical knowledge.

With the inauguration of the biological and clinical laboratory, a new platform has been established, connecting modern science with indigenous knowledge, and laying the foundation for the first international publications bearing the Vietnamese mark in the field of herbal medicine.

The research laboratory under the Vietnam Ginseng and Medicinal Materials Research Institute (VIGH), strategically sponsored by Thai Minh Hi-Tech and Thai Minh Pharmaceutical Group, is expected to become the core of the new generation of medicinal materials science ecosystem in Vietnam.

Here, systematic research from the cellular to preclinical level will open up the possibility of developing evidence-based treatments from indigenous herbs, which has been a gap in the domestic pharmaceutical industry.

The laboratory is invested with modern equipment systems such as Real-time PCR to evaluate the biological activity of active ingredients, Chemidoc system to analyze gene and protein expression to clarify the mechanism of action.

The highlight of the research direction is to discover new compounds from Vietnamese medicinal herbs combined with drug repurposing to develop cancer treatments at reasonable costs.

Not stopping at improving existing products, Thai Minh aims to pioneer in creating completely new products based on modern biological data and international standard research systems.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Thai, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Thai Minh Pharmaceuticals, shared: "The establishment of the lab is a clear declaration for the path of sustainable development based on knowledge. We chose to do the most difficult part - systematic research because we believe that only science can bring businesses and the entire Vietnamese pharmaceutical industry to sustainable development."

Thai Minh Pharmaceuticals said that from now on, the company's products will not only be manufactured using modern technology but also developed on the basis of transparent scientific data, with verifiable value at the global level.

This is an inevitable step to meet the increasing expectations of the market and management agencies, and at the same time gradually bring Vietnamese medicinal herbs beyond the role of raw materials, towards creating real added value in the global pharmaceutical chain.

Also at the ceremony, Thai Minh officially appointed Dr. Vo Thuy Lu Tam as Director of the Drug Development Project and Deputy Director of the Vietnam Ginseng and Medicinal Materials Institute.

Dr. Tam is an expert with a deep background in molecular biology and pharmacology, graduated with a PhD from Seoul National University (Korea), has many years of research at major institutes and universities in Korea such as Keimyung, with scientific publications in prestigious international journals such as Experimental & Molecular Medicine, International Journal of Molecular Sciences, Oncotarget….

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pham Ha Thanh Tung, Director of the Vietnam Institute of Ginseng and Medicinal Materials, emphasized that Vietnam possesses valuable medicinal resources, but if it does not master science and technology, the true value of indigenous medicinal plants will only stop at potential.

With the inauguration of the biological and clinical laboratory, a new platform has been established, connecting modern science with indigenous knowledge, and laying the foundation for the first international publications bearing the Vietnamese mark in the field of herbal medicine.

In the next 5 to 10 years, Thai Minh aims to have international scientific publications, contributing to the development of herbal treatments with clear mechanisms, applied practically in Vietnam and the region.

Furthermore, the company aims to affirm the position of Vietnamese medicinal herbs on the world medical map, where products from indigenous medicinal plants can compete with the power of endogenous knowledge. At the same time , expanding research capacity also opens a new door for the Vietnamese pharmaceutical industry, a door to the depth of value, to the core of sustainable development based on science and creativity.

That journey is not simply a step forward for a business, but an affirmation of a great aspiration to make Vietnam a country that not only exports raw medicinal materials but also exports scientific indigenous medical knowledge.
