On August 29, at the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City Health Sector Job Fair, Dr. Tran Ngoc Hai, Director of Tu Du Hospital, announced the plan to establish a second facility of the hospital in Can Gio district.

This is a follow-up implementation step after the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued Decision No. 1564 (dated May 8, 2024), approving the Project "Consolidating and developing Can Gio district healthcare to 2030, vision 2045".

According to Dr. Hai, Tu Du Hospital 2 will be built on the foundation of the existing Can Gio District Hospital. This facility is oriented to develop into a grade I general hospital with 300 beds, including 9 clinical departments, 3 paraclinical departments and 3 functional rooms.

Key specialties include Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, General Internal Medicine (with Artificial Kidney Unit), General Surgery, Emergency Resuscitation, and many other specialties such as ENT, Dentistry, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Traditional Medicine, and Rehabilitation.

In addition to inpatient and outpatient medical examination and treatment services and 24/7 emergency care, facility 2 also aims to fully deploy specialized techniques, reproductive health care, chronic disease treatment, palliative care and rehabilitation.

The hospital also focuses on preventive medicine, improving public health and ensuring medical safety for the workforce and experts in Can Gio - a locality that is entering a period of strong development with major projects such as urban areas reclaimed from the sea and international transit ports.

“Tu Du Hospital’s second facility not only provides medical examination and treatment, but also serves as a medical security support for people in remote areas, reducing the burden on upper-level hospitals, and promptly responding to special emergency situations such as labor accidents at seaports and waterways,” emphasized Dr. Hai.

Previously, in April, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued an official dispatch approving the plan to establish Tu Du Hospital, branch 2, in Can Gio. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has directed Tu Du Hospital to coordinate with many leading specialized hospitals to develop an implementation roadmap, prepare human resources, and orient professional development.

The presence of Tu Du Hospital's second facility in Can Gio is expected to provide high-quality medical services right in the locality, helping people not have to travel far to the city center for medical examination and treatment.

At the same time, the hospital will develop medical tourism services combined with resort, attracting domestic and foreign tourists, contributing to making Can Gio a destination that is both ecological and provides comprehensive health care.

In the future, Tu Du Hospital 2 will be a modern medical center, competitive enough, approaching the professional level and service quality of leading hospitals, contributing to realizing the goal of bringing high-quality healthcare closer to all people in Ho Chi Minh City.
