"Diogo Jota will always be a star for us"
Before joining Liverpool and becoming one of the world's top strikers, the late Diogo Jota had a wonderful time at Wolves. Here, he won the hearts of many fans as well as the team's management. Therefore, the Spanish striker's death in a traffic accident made Wolves members feel extremely sad.
Matt Wild, Wolves chief executive, said: "We are all in complete shock. This is devastating news, not just because of Diogo's passing, which is tragic enough, but also because his brother has passed away. He leaves behind a wife and three young children. It's hard to take. It's so sudden, so shocking. I think it will take a while for many people to accept.

"His impact at Wolves was huge," Wild said. "He was only there for three years, but they were three important years. He was part of a team that won the Championship, got Wolves back into the Premier League, and then into Europe the following season. There were so many great moments that everyone, fans, players, staff, shared together. Diogo was a huge part of that. Today, we'll all look back on those memories, the impact Diogo had and the time we spent together.
Diogo embodies the values of this club. He is very humble, very kind, very professional, but also very determined and hungry. Everyone has seen his progression throughout his career, from a very young age, to coming to Liverpool at 23 and going on to be a huge success there. He has won so many trophies."
Wild added: "When I think of Diogo, the first thing I remember is the day he signed. He was so exciting. On the pitch, Diogo was so tenacious, so determined, a real fighter and he gave us so many great memories. He was part of one of the most successful periods in Wolves' history and he was so kind off the pitch too. I remember when he left Liverpool, he went to every single person and department to thank them and say goodbye. He took pictures with everyone and that was the real Diogo. He left Wolves a star, and he will always be a star in our eyes."

"Diogo will always be remembered"
Chairman Jeff Shi also shared his own feelings: "Diogo was a top player and for me, he was one of the top three players at Wolves during my time here. He was also a nice guy, enthusiastic and always understanding. But Diogo was also very demanding, very hungry. He was always positive, optimistic and could even give me confidence. He had very clear ideas. Diogo was intelligent, bright and very decisive. I felt he had the potential to be a very good CEO or businessman in the future because he knew exactly what he wanted to do. Diogo will be missed by everyone at Wolves and we send our condolences to his family and friends."
