Trang shared: During the school year, I rarely have time to go to the library to read books, so during the summer vacation, we go to the library to read books. There are many good books here, from stories to knowledge; besides, the quiet, cool space helps us concentrate and relax.
To serve the needs and interests of young readers, the Provincial Museum and Library has renovated and rearranged the reading space, with a friendly design. The book display area is scientifically arranged, easy to find, creating favorable conditions for children to freely choose. In addition, the reading room also has additional play corners, chess boards, e-books...
As a regular reader of the Provincial Museum and Library, Dao Nha Truc, Group 5, To Hieu Ward, excitedly said: During the school year, I often go to the Library mainly to find reference books to serve my studies in class. During the summer, I can freely read stories according to my interests. Coming here, what I like most is that there are many friends with the same interest in reading, we find books to read and exchange.
Mr. Luong Tuan Cuong, Deputy Head of Reader Services and Movement Building, Provincial Museum and Library, said: To create excitement and attract children to the library, the unit has harmoniously built a traditional reading space, a group work area with an e-book reading area, so that children can access knowledge in many different forms. Along with that, e-books are regularly updated, helping children easily find books according to their interests and needs.
To meet the reading needs of the people and students, from Monday to Friday every week, the Provincial Museum and Library arranges a mobile library car at the Youth and Children Activity Center yard; on Saturday and Sunday, the car will move to the Northwest Square; operating hours are from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., contributing to maintaining a reading culture in the community.
Late on a weekend afternoon, Ms. Luong Bich Thuan, Quyet Thang Ward, took her child to Tay Bac Square to exercise and read books in the mobile library car. Ms. Thuan shared: There are many useful books and stories here. I will introduce it to other parents so that they can take their children to the square to play, exercise, and read books for free.
Since the beginning of the year, the Provincial Museum and Library has served 290,047 readers, of which 77,029 are children. The unit has organized exhibitions of books and documents on the history, culture, and customs of Son La province's ethnic groups in the local archives; regularly supplemented and diversified sources of documents, especially documents on local culture. This summer alone, the unit has prepared 4,000 books to serve young people and children; arranged regular staff to be on duty to welcome readers of all ages; organized games combined with reading activities so that more and more people can experience and read books.
With constant efforts in renovating space, diversifying activities and improving service quality, the reading space of the Provincial Museum and Library has truly become a useful and ideal destination for children during the summer days.
