Deutsche Telekom has introduced the "T-phone" device, which features an app-free user interface, developed in collaboration with partners Qualcomm and Brain.
“I can tell you that in 5-10 years, none of us will use apps anymore,” Deutsche Telekom CEO Tim Hoettges said in a keynote speech at the MWC technology conference in Barcelona.
The company said in a presentation that examples of what the phone could do include responding to reminders and making relevant recommendations for travel destinations, purchasing products for the owner, or sending photos and videos to contacts.
“The product on display reflects Deutsche Telekom’s belief that multimodal Large Language Models (LLMs) will soon become an integral part of devices, enhancing and simplifying customers’ lives,” Deutsche Telekom added.
Tech and telecom companies are launching new products and ideas at the annual Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, hoping the buzz around AI will boost their business prospects. Many experts say the technology could raise legal and ethical concerns.
