Fourth competition night of DIFF 2025: Creativity from "newcomer" Portugal, classic colors from the UK

With the theme of “Sustainable Development”, the fourth competition night of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2025, organized by Sun Group in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Da Nang City, continued to bring a visual and emotional feast on the Han River. Two teams from Europe – Portugal and the United Kingdom – delighted thousands of spectators with their creative, highly technical and artistic fireworks displays.

The crazy "light concert" from Portugal

Participating for the first time at DIFF, the Macedos Pirotecnia team from Portugal quickly asserted their class by bringing a fireworks display as lively as a rock concert in the sky of Da Nang .

Starting with the vibrant melody “Rock You Like A Hurricane” by the Scorpions, the team stirred up the atmosphere with a strong rhythm, fireworks exploded with each beat, making the audience feel like they were immersed in a grand concert of light and sound. When emotions were running high, the performance suddenly changed direction with “Thuong Qua Viet Nam” – a gentle melody resounding among the birds of light and fireworks effects simulating sunlight, conveying an emotional message about nature and love for Vietnam.

The climax was pushed up by special musical arrangements from Lusitana Paixão, Rio Favo de Mel to a part of Lacrimosa (Mozart), interwoven between light, classical and modern music . Typical pyrotechnic techniques such as comets, light waterfalls, volcanic cannons... created a brilliant symphony in the sky, imbued with the spirit of "for a green future".

Musician Nguyen Duc Trinh commented, “Portugal’s performance was truly impressive. Creative, surprising and full of emotion, they are not only a ‘newbie’ but also one of the very strong competitors at this year’s DIFF season.”

UK - "Emotional Waves" Touch People's Hearts

Returning to Da Nang audiences, the Pyrotex Fireworx team from the UK continued to captivate audiences with an artistically profound performance called “Emotional Waves” – a poetic cinematic concert set against the night sky of the Han River.

About 8,000 fireworks were designed specifically for each program, combining diverse music from lyrical, action to cinematic. The opening was a space as deep as the ocean, then accelerated with the background music from James Bond movies, bringing the audience into the world of dramatic action. Notably, the middle part of the performance "caused a storm" when a series of Vietnamese songs such as "Nguoi hay quen em di" (My Tam), "Noi nay co anh" (Son Tung M-TP) resounded, stirring up the audience, creating intimate and proud moments.

The finale was like an outdoor art party, with a series of timeless masterpieces: Canto Della Terra, Live and Let Die, Dancing Queen, Future World Music... blended with top-notch fireworks effects, bringing the audience's emotions to the climax - both joyful and profound.

Musician Nguyen Duc Trinh commented: “The British team always knows how to create highlights. Their fireworks are cinematic, classic yet modern. The ending is so satisfying – brilliant and complete.”

Art space explodes along the Han River

Not only fireworks, the fourth competition night of DIFF 2025 is also a multi-dimensional art feast. Special dance performances were elaborately staged, with the participation of artists such as Dong Hung, Lam Bao Ngoc, To My and professional dance troupes, making Ngu Hanh Son stage a vibrant highlight of Da Nang's summer.

In particular, Sky AR – outdoor virtual reality technology continues to make a strong impression. Since the opening ceremony, Sky AR has attracted thousands of interactions, becoming an attractive experience for visitors and affirming the city's strong progress in applying digital transformation to the smokeless industry.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Sandeep Arya - Ambassador of India to Vietnam shared: "DIFF is becoming a special destination of the region. Along with beautiful nature and heritages such as Ba Na Hills, Hoi An..., DIFF adds modern cultural appeal, making Da Nang more attractive in the eyes of international tourists."

Along with DIFF, a series of accompanying events such as: Enjoy Danang Festival 2025 (from June 20-23), street art programs, festivals at Ba Na Hills, Da Nang Downtown, My Khe beach, or vibrant streets such as: Tran Hung Dao, Nguyen Van Thoai, Vo Nguyen Giap... are bringing colorful summer experiences, contributing to promoting tourism and night-time economy in the locality.

DIFF 2025 is both a pinnacle of fireworks art and a vivid demonstration of the appeal of a modern, creative and integrated Da Nang – a city that is constantly transforming itself to become Asia's leading festival destination.
