Proposal to extend customs clearance time through La Lay international border gate

(HQ Online) - The People's Committee of Quang Tri province sent a document to the Salavan Provincial Government Committee (Laos) regarding the change of working hours at the international border gates of La Lay (Dakrong district) and La Lay (Salavan province).

Quang Tri proposes that your side agree to change working hours at the border gate from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. every day, including holidays and weekends.

Special cases will be processed through the border gates at any time. Currently, this pair of border gates is open until 19:00.

According to Quang Tri province, recently, the functional forces of the two provinces at La Lay international border gate have closely coordinated, creating favorable conditions for entry and exit, import and export activities of people and businesses on both sides.

Thanks to that, trade and investment cooperation through the La Lay - La Lay international border gate pair has increasingly positive changes; the flow of people, vehicles and goods through the border gate pair is increasing, especially the import and export of coal from Laos to Vietnam.

In the first quarter of 2024, La Lay Border Gate Customs Branch (Quang Tri Customs Department) completed procedures for 20,361 vehicles entering and exiting the country, up 2.66%; with 52,829 passengers entering and exiting the country, up 25.69%; the total number of import and export declarations was 556, up 7.54%; import and export turnover reached 50.359 million USD, up 41.88%; import and export goods weight was 415,442 tons, up 53.01% over the same period in 2023.
