According to the draft Law on Employment (amended), the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs proposes that students of working age can work part-time, but not more than 20 hours/week during the school term and not more than 48 hours/week during the holidays.

Students are paid overtime according to the agreement with the employer based on actual working time, volume and quality of work.

The drafting agency also proposed that generaleducation , higher education, vocational education or vocational education institutions participating in vocational education activities be responsible for managing students working part-time.

Many people work part-time, in a variety of jobs such as driving motorbike taxis, selling online or working in tourism production and business establishments, restaurants, hotels, eateries... However, if they get carried away with part-time work, it can affect their studies, and at the same time, there are many potential risks related to fraud, labor exploitation, and falling into social evils...

Currently, Vietnam has a minimum hourly wage divided into 4 regions to protect workers. Region 1 is 22,500 VND/hour, region 2 is 20,000 VND/hour, region 3 is 17,500 VND/hour and region 4 is 15,600 VND/hour.

The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has proposed that the Government regulate hourly minimum wages to increase by 6% from July 1, 2024.

Specifically, zone 1 is 23,800 VND/hour, zone 2 is 21,200 VND/hour, zone 3 is 18,600 VND/hour and zone 4 is 16,600 VND/hour.

List of localities in regions 1, 2, 3, 4 applying the regional minimum wage according to the appendix issued with Decree 38/2022/ND-CP can be found here.
