On June 26, at the Presidential Palace in the capital Zagreb, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Republic of Croatia Bui Le Thai presented the Letter of Credence ofthe President of Vietnam to the President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović. The ceremony of presenting the Letter of Credence took place in a solemn and respectful atmosphere.
At the ceremony, Ambassador Bui Le Thai respectfully conveyed greetings and best wishes from General Secretary To Lam , President Luong Cuong and other key leaders of Vietnam to President Zoran Milanovic and the people of Croatia.
Affirming that Vietnam always values the traditional friendship with Croatia and considers Croatia one of the important partners in the Balkan region, Ambassador Bui Le Thai emphasized that Vietnam wishes to promote bilateral cooperation in all fields.
Expressing his honor to assume the responsibility of Vietnamese Ambassador to Croatia - a country with great potential in Southeast Europe, Ambassador Bui Le Thai pledged to do his best to contribute to strengthening and developing the cooperative relationship in all aspects between the two countries, and expressed his wish to continue receiving support from relevant Croatian agencies during his term.

The Ambassador thanked Croatia for actively supporting the negotiation and signing of the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and for promptly ratifying the Vietnam-EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), supporting the European Commission (EC) to promptly remove the yellow card on Vietnamese seafood and continuing to urge the remaining EU countries to promptly ratify the EVIPA.
In addition, Ambassador Bui Le Thai also suggested that Croatia consider signing a number of cooperation agreements between the two countries to create a legal basis for the relationship between the two countries, including the Agreement on labor cooperation, oneducation and training cooperation, the Cooperation Agreement between the two National Assemblies; consider establishing the Croatia-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Group; enhance people-to-people exchanges, and coordinate more closely at multilateral forums, especially at the United Nations.
On this occasion, Ambassador Bui Le Thai respectfully conveyed a letter from President Luong Cuong inviting President Zoran Milanović to attend the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime in Hanoi on October 25-26, 2025.

After the presentation of credentials, Mr. Neven Pelicarić, Foreign Affairs Advisor to President Zoran Milanović, on behalf of the President, received Ambassador Bui Le Thai. In addition, Ambassador Bui Le Thai also had meetings with Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Frano Matušić and Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Sustainable Development Vedran Špehar to discuss cooperation orientations during the term.
During the meetings, the Croatian side congratulated Ambassador Bui Le Thai on his appointment as Vietnamese Ambassador to Croatia, highly appreciated Vietnam's dynamic development achievements as well as its increasing prestige and role in the region and the world; and affirmed that Croatia always wishes to further strengthen cooperation with Vietnam, especially in the fields of economics, trade, culture, education and people-to-people exchange.
Croatia is ready to act as a gateway for Vietnamese exports through its seaports to the European Union (EU), helping Vietnam strengthen cooperation with the EU and expressing confidence in the prospects for cooperation between the two countries. Croatia affirmed its continued support and readiness to lobby the remaining EU countries to soon ratify the EVIPA and the EC to lift the yellow card on Vietnamese seafood.
At the same time, the President's Foreign Affairs Advisor and the two Secretaries of State also congratulated Ambassador Bui Le Thai on successfully completing his term of office, contributing to further deepening the relationship between the two countries in all fields.
