Fire extinguished at Tam Nong food market in Dong Thap

At about 9:50 p.m. on August 15, 2025, a fire broke out at Tam Nong food market (on Tran Hung Dao street, hamlet 2, Tram Chim commune, Dong Thap province).

According to initial information, immediately after receiving the news, Tram Chim Commune Police urgently mobilized officers, soldiers and security forces, along with firefighting vehicles and equipment to the scene to put out the fire. There were about 40 comrades, including the Commune Police Chief and 5 Deputy Commune Police Chiefs present at the scene to direct and participate in the fire fighting.

After that, the information was sent to the Commune Military Command, militia and the people to participate in fire fighting (about 70 people participated). At the same time, the Tram Chim National Park, Phu Cuong Commune Police, Tam Nong Commune Police (neighboring communes) were discussed and requested to support the mobilization of about 40 officers and soldiers and fire fighting equipment.

At the same time, the Commune Police quickly notified the Tam Nong Electricity Management Team to cut off power to the entire fire area and surrounding areas; quickly reported to the Provincial Police on Duty, the Provincial Police Fire Fighting on Duty, the Provincial Police PC07 Department, to report to the Provincial Police Directorate to direct and mobilize the Hong Ngu Fire Fighting Team, Cao Lanh Fire Fighting Team, Traffic Police Team No. 3, Tam Nong Detention Camp and Evidence Warehouse Management to mobilize forces and vehicles to participate in fire fighting (about 80 officers and soldiers).

With the active firefighting efforts of the authorities and the people, by about 22:15 on the same day, the fire was under control, preventing it from spreading to other areas. Currently, the forces are working to extinguish small fires in the kiosks.

According to the leader of Tam Nong Commune Police, the fire did not cause any human casualties. However, by the time the people reported the fire, it was already a big fire and the property inside was made of flammable materials, causing damage to 31 kiosks, of which 10 kiosks were severely damaged.

Currently, the cause and extent of damage of the fire are being investigated and clarified by the authorities.
