Former Japan Airlines boss becomes Chairman of Bamboo Airways

Mr. Oshima Hideki, former Deputy General Director of Japan Airlines, has just been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bamboo Airways for the 2023 - 2028 term.

At the annual meeting on June 21, Bamboo Airways completed the restructuring of its senior staff. The company elected 7 members of the Board of Directors for the 2023-2028 term, including Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Trong, Doan Huu Doan, Le Ba Nguyen, Le Thai Sam, Tran Hoa Binh , Oshima Hideki and Mr. Phan Dinh Tue.

On the same day, the Board of Directors met and unanimously elected Mr. Oshima Hideki as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bamboo Airways. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Trong holds the position of Permanent Vice Chairman, while Mr. Doan Huu Doan and Mr. Phan Dinh Tue hold the position of Vice Chairmen of the Board of Directors of Bamboo Airways.

The new Chairman of Bamboo Airways, Shima Hideki, has nearly 40 years of experience in the aviation industry. He has held many senior management positions at airports such as Deputy General Director of Japan Airlines, Deputy General Director of Narita Airport Tokyo - Japan, and Project Director of Haneda Airport Tokyo - Japan.

In addition, the Bamboo Airways General Meeting of Shareholders also elected 3 members of the Board of Supervisors for the 2023-2028 term, namely Ms. Nguyen Thi Huu, Nguyen Bich Ngoc and Mr. Nguyen Dang Khoa, to replace the old members who had resigned.

Under the leadership of the new senior staff, Bamboo Airways plans to operate a fleet of 30-36 aircraft by the end of this year, maintaining a seat utilization rate of 81.5% and an on-time flight rate of over 90%. Passenger and cargo transport revenue is expected to grow by about 15-20% compared to 2022. Last year, the airline recorded net revenue of VND11,732 billion.

Regarding the flight network, Bamboo Airways plans to continue maintaining its domestic flight network connecting all 22 domestic airports and expanding its flight routes to target international markets in Europe, Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, and Australia.

At the same time, Bamboo Airways is also building an aviation ecosystem such as establishing air cargo companies, ground service companies, aviation engineering companies, airline catering companies, etc. to increase efficiency across the network. The airline continues to restructure its organization and perfect its human resources in a streamlined and efficient manner.

The company said that all the solutions of the pivotal year 2023 are aimed at the medium-term goal of strengthening the international flight network, raising service standards, thereby making Bamboo Airways an airline brand of Asia and the world .
