Bringing brocade across the mountains and forests to the world with Thai artisans

Báo Phụ nữ Việt NamBáo Phụ nữ Việt Nam23/06/2024

The colorful brocades of the Western Nghe An region have been restored and preserved by ethnic minority women. We invite you to experience and learn about the journey of Thai ethnic artisans in elevating brocades used daily into export products loved and chosen by international friends.

Thanh Son commune is a resettlement commune for ethnic minorities to build Ban Ve hydropower plant. Brocade has followed Thai women from the deep forest to the new land.

Ms. Vi Thi Dung's brocade embroidery facility is not only a model for Thai ethnic women to preserve and develop the brocade weaving and embroidery craft, but also to improve and keep up with the consumption needs of the modern market, finding a foothold in the domestic market and exporting to some neighboring countries such as Thailand, Laos, etc.

The facility has helped members and ethnic minorities in the commune preserve and develop traditional occupations and create jobs for local Thai ethnic women with stable income.
