CSI 2025 seeks 100 sustainable businesses in Vietnam with many new features

(Dan Tri) - The Program for Evaluating and Announcing Sustainable Enterprises in Vietnam 2025 (CSI 2025) enters its 10th year organized by VCCI, aiming to recognize and commend enterprises that practice good sustainable production and business activities.

The CSI 2025 program continues to be organized by VCCI, with the core being the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD), in coordination with the Central Policy and Strategy Committee, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Ministry of Finance. The Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI) continues to be used as a basis for assessing the level of sustainable development of enterprises participating in the program.

At the recent CSI 2025 Launch Ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, Vice President of VCCI, Chairman of VBCSD, Deputy Head of the Program Steering Committee shared: “Recognizing the strengthening of corporate governance capacity - the G factor in ESG, will help businesses build a solid foundation to successfully implement sustainable development strategies, thereby enhancing competitiveness and resilience, and long-term recovery for businesses.

We have been pioneers in building the CSI Index and implementing the CSI Program from very early on. Persistently doing so for 10 years, which is also 2/3 of VBCSD's journey, has shown the strong vitality of CSI."

The Vietnam Sustainable Enterprises Assessment and Announcement Program 2025 (CSI 2025) is entering its 10th year organized by VCCI, aiming to recognize and commend enterprises that practice good sustainable production and business activities.

Promoting the spirit of Resolution 68 on private economic development, Resolution 57 on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, and a series of Resolutions 138 and 139 issued in May 2025 by the Government, the CSI 2025 Program and Index Set have made practical adjustments and innovations.

First of all, the CSI 2025 Index is structured into 7 main parts, including: business information; structure, organizational model and key personnel; analysis of key issues; 3-year performance index; governance index; environmental index and labor - social index. The index has also been streamlined, with only 145 indexes, of which 87 are basic indexes (C) of compliance nature - accounting for 59%, and 58 are advanced indexes (A) of practical initiative nature - equivalent to 41%. Previously, the CSI 2024 had 153 indexes, with 62% of C indexes and 38% of A indexes.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Huy, Director of the Office of Business for Sustainable Development (SD4B-VCCI), Head of the Program Secretariat, after 10 years of organization, learning from previous organizations, the CSI Index Set has been refined - in the direction of increasing the proportion of index A, reducing index C.

At the same time, increasing the total bonus points for initiatives in the program's scoring structure to 10% of the maximum allowed score - also reflects the program organizers' desire to encourage businesses to move from compliance to innovation in sustainable business practices through new initiatives.

This helps businesses build better competitive advantages, reap greater added value from sustainable development, and adapt better to the current volatile context.

The CSI 2025 program has a transparent and rigorous evaluation process through three rounds and appraisal by competent authorities.

In addition, to attract more small and micro enterprises in the private economic sector to participate in the program, thereby encouraging this group of enterprises to transform their business thinking and implement sustainable business more strongly, the program has built a separate version of the CSI 2025 Index for small and micro enterprises, with only 87 indicators in 6 parts compared to the full version of 145 indicators for medium and large enterprises.

This is also in line with the aim of encouraging small and micro enterprises to gradually implement sustainable development through ensuring compliance in production and business activities first.

CSI 2024 honors Top 100 Sustainable Enterprises in the fields of trade - services and manufacturing.

Another notable new feature of the CSI 2025 Program is that the organizers also incorporate technology and artificial intelligence (AI) applications into the program to innovate the implementation method, creating more favorable conditions for businesses when participating in the program and implementing the index set.

By 2025, the program will accept applications from businesses of all sizes and sectors through online submission and will not charge any fees from businesses.

Enterprises participating in the program submit their applications at https://vbcsd.vn/csi/ before 23:59 on August 15.
