"I almost decided not to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup despite receiving many invitations and offers.
There have been negotiations, contacts, but you have to think about short-term, medium-term and long-term plans," Ronaldo said about his decision to skip the most attractive club tournament on the planet ahead of the 2024-25 Nations League final between Portugal and Spain at 2am on June 9.

Ronaldo's contract with Al Nassr will expire on June 30 and there have been many rumors that the Portuguese superstar will leave the club early to find a new club that can help him participate in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup which will start on June 15.
However, Ronaldo admitted that he will not attend the above tournament, and also clarified the rumors that he will retire at the age of 40.
"My mentality is to live day by day. I don't have many years left to play professional football, but I'm enjoying this moment. I haven't decided on a retirement date. Right now I'm still happy, I'm here to enjoy and keep moving forward," Ronaldo said.
Ronaldo was the top scorer in the Saudi Pro League for two consecutive years, but he has yet to win a trophy with Al Nassr since moving to the Middle Eastern club in 2023.
In the 2024-25 season, despite his age, Ronaldo scored 35 goals in 41 matches for Al Nassr. With his recent goal against Germany, he also increased his national team scoring record to 137, while helping Portugal advance to the final of the 2024-25 Nations League.
