On October 6, My Thuan Project Management Board said that in 2 days (October 5 and 6), the first kilometers of asphalt concrete of package XL01 of the My Thuan - Can Tho Expressway Project, in Tan Hoa commune, Vinh Long city, Vinh Long province, were paved by the construction unit.

According to the investor, the contractors have mobilized human resources and deployed 4 teams to simultaneously deploy asphalt concrete pavement at qualified locations. During the entire paving process, technical and quality factors are always strictly monitored by engineers.

According to the My Thuan Project Management Board, the project's construction output has reached about 72% of the contract value. Currently, 19.3/20 km of the roadbed with soft soil treatment is eligible to be unloaded. The remaining 700m is expected to be unloaded before October 20. Contractors have completed 42% of the crushed stone construction. Of which, about 4 km is eligible to be paved with the first layer of asphalt concrete.

Phase 1, the project will have a scale of 4 lanes, speed of 80 km/h. The project will be completed and put into operation by the end of 2023.

The My Thuan - Can Tho Expressway project has a total length of nearly 23 km. Of which, the section through Vinh Long province is more than 12 km long, and the section through Dong Thap is more than 10 km long. The total investment of the project is more than 4,800 billion VND. The starting point of the project connects to My Thuan 2 bridge, in Tan Hoa ward, Vinh Long city. The end point is at Cha Va bridge intersection, connecting to the existing National Highway 1 in Thuan An commune, Binh Minh town, Vinh Long province.

Earlier, on the same morning, representatives of the leaders and members of Trung Nam Construction and Installation Joint Stock Company (Trungnam E&C) - a member of Trungnam Group, came to inspect and review the preparations for the main span of My Thuan 2 Bridge in October 2023.

My Thuan 2 Bridge is ready to close the main span at both ends of the bridge in October 2023.

The My Thuan 2 Bridge Project, with an investment capital of 5,000 billion VND, spanning the Tien River, started construction in February 2020, with a total length of 6.61 km. The project has a starting point connecting the Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway project; the end point connecting the My Thuan - Can Tho Expressway. Of which, the main bridge is more than 1.9 km long, fully invested with 6 lanes, and a design speed of 80 km/h.

According to Project Management Board 7 (investor), to date the project has achieved a total construction and installation value of more than 3,108 billion VND, equivalent to about 93% of the contract value.

Trungnam E&C said that the bridge structure has been completed. Package XL03B - construction of the pier body (T14 - T17) and the main cable-stayed span structure of My Thuan 2 Bridge, was carried out by Trungnam E&C and the consortium. The construction of the last cable bundle MC14-MC16 and the construction of the final cantilever block of the main bridge span have been completed and are ready to close the main span at both ends of the bridge.

Mr. Phan Van Quan - Commander of Trungnam E&C's management board at My Thuan 2 bridge project said that during the construction process, there were many difficulties, the river was deep and the water flowed fast, the construction site had no road access for cars, all were transported by water, so the work of gathering and moving materials from the gathering area to the construction site encountered many obstacles, depending a lot on the water level; the top of the main bridge tower T16 was 125 m high, construction at high altitudes was very dangerous and really difficult in rainy, windy and thundery weather.
