Ho Chi Minh City FC is still considering options for the team's head coach position, after parting ways with coach Vu Tien Thanh and his assistant team. The club has just announced 3 new members of the coaching staff, but the "captain" position is still vacant.
According to VTC News, Coach Chung Hae-seong is the top priority choice of the Ho Chi Minh City Club's leadership. The Korean coach worked for this team in the 2019 season.
Under the leadership of coach Chung Hae-seong, Ho Chi Minh City FC became the runner-up of V.League 2019 - the highest achievement of this team since they were promoted. However, in the 2020 season, Ho Chi Minh City FC's performance was not good and the former technical director of the Korea Football Association (KFA) parted ways with the team.
Coach Park Hang Seo and Lee Young-jin have the opportunity to return to Vietnam.
Chung Hae-seong's biggest advantage is clearly his familiarity with the Vietnamese football environment as well as the Ho Chi Minh City Club. In addition, the expert born in 1958 - who was an assistant to coach Guus Hiddink of the Korean team at the 2002 World Cup - also wants to return to work in the V.League.
After parting ways with coach Vu Tien Thanh, Ho Chi Minh City FC targeted coach Alexandre Polking. However, the former head coach of the Thai national team rejected the offer from his old team and decided to take some time off, with no intention of returning to coaching for now.
The duo that has created the resounding success of the Vietnamese team in recent years, Park Hang Seo and Lee Young-jin, are also considered options. Last week, there were rumors that Ho Chi Minh City FC reached an agreement to recruit Mr. Park as Technical Director and Mr. Lee as Head Coach. However, this has not happened yet and is still just an idea.
According to VTC News, the process of raising issues and negotiating between Ho Chi Minh City Club and the management company of Coach Park Hang Seo and Lee Young-jin has not yet reached an agreement. Initially, financial issues were the barrier that made it difficult for Ho Chi Minh City Club to meet the required remuneration of the two former coaches of the Vietnam national team.
