Long An Club almost dissolved before the First Division last season due to financial and personnel difficulties. However, thanks to financial support from a bank as well as player support from Hoang Anh Gia Lai Club, Long An Club was able to register to participate in the 2024-2025 First Division.
At the end of the season, coach Trinh Duy Quang's team ranked 8th out of 11 teams, with 18 points after 20 matches. However, whether Long An Club will participate in the upcoming 2025-2026 First Division or not and how it will change its name still has to wait for the decision from the leaders of the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism of the new Tay Ninh province after the merger of Long An and Tay Ninh provinces.
For now, after the end of the season, the U21 Hoang Anh Gia Lai players and the entire coaching staff have returned to the mountain town. Long An Club currently has only 3-4 players left. Where to find the staff and funding to operate and compete in the 2025-2026 First Division is a difficult problem.
"We are waiting for the leadership to complete the merger and stabilize the organization before discussing football. Especially preparing the team and finding sponsorship for the team.
I have heard about Long An Club changing its name to Tay Ninh, but it is still unofficial information," a former member of the team shared.
Currently, the U21 Long An team has been renamed U21 Tay Ninh to compete in the qualifying round of the 2025 National U21 Championship, starting on July 4. U21 Tay Ninh is in Group E (hosted by Ba Ria - Vung Tau) with Dak Lak, Dong Nai, Hoang Anh Gia Lai II and Ho Chi Minh City Football Club.
Meanwhile, the old Tay Ninh province has Tay Ninh Club competing in the second division. In the 2025 Second Division, Tay Ninh Club is at the bottom of Group B with 11 points after 14 matches.
