The stock market on August 5 had an explosive session with huge cash flow. However, the afternoon session on August 5 made many investors scared with the sudden turn of many stocks. Within just 15 minutes in the afternoon session, a series of stocks suddenly turned purple, hitting the ceiling. In particular, the most prominent were banking stocks such as TCB, STB, TPB, MBB, which were pushed to the ceiling, securities codes such as VCI, AAS or codes VIC, HPG, GEX, KBC... The massive cash flow matched orders, causing the VN-Index to increase by nearly 56 points, reaching a record of over 1,583 points.
The market reversed so quickly in session 5.8 with record liquidity that investors were shocked.

However, the joy did not last long, a series of stocks turned around and fell sharply below the reference. Many stocks fell from the ceiling to a bright red, making investors stunned. Then came a fierce tug-of-war session. At the end of the session, the VN-Index still maintained its green color when it increased by 18.96 points, equivalent to an increase of 1.24% to 1,547.15 points and was still lower than the peak of 1,557.42 points of the previous session on July 28. On the contrary, the HNX-Index could not maintain its upward momentum when it decreased by 2.22 points, equivalent to a decrease of 0.83% to 266.12 points at the end of the session.
In the VN30 basket on the HOSE floor, many codes were sold heavily, so at the end of the session, they were in red despite having increased sharply before, such as GAS, FPT, HDB, SAB,SHB , BCM, VNM... This situation also spread on the electronic price board in many different industry groups.
Although the VN-Index has not yet reached its peak, market liquidity has set a new record. On the HOSE, the total trading volume reached more than 2.8 billion units with a value of more than VND78,122 billion, a sharp increase compared to the previous highest session on July 29 with a value of nearly VND72,000 billion. In the whole market, the trading value exceeded VND85,756 billion.
The reversal in the session was so fast and strong that many investors were "misled" when chasing high prices. On some stock forums, many people shared their status in this session with phrases such as "roller coaster", "flip side", "unbelievable"... There were many analyses of the trading trend in this session when the market reversed quite quickly at the end of the session with volume continuing to maintain at an extremely large level. Although it is not enough to conclude that this is a reversal or the first step of a distribution signal, most stockbrokers agree that investors need to be cautious, limit new purchases or chase hot stocks...
