Stocks end 6-session increase streak

VnExpressVnExpress07/09/2023

The 6-session increase streak of VN-Index stopped when the HoSE index closed today in red, due to high profit-taking pressure on real estate and securities groups.

Investors' enthusiasm after three consecutive sessions of increasing by more than 10 points helped the market open today in green. VN-Index bounced after ATO with positive cash flow. The HoSE index expanded its green color in the middle of the morning session, surpassing the threshold of 1,255 points.

However, the effort to overcome the 1,250-point zone encountered difficulties when profit-taking pressure increased. This trend gradually increased in the afternoon session, causing the VN-Index to fluctuate around the reference level. At the end of the session, the VN-Index stopped at 1,243.14 points, down more than 2 points compared to yesterday's session. The VN30-Index decreased nearly 5 points, down to 1,255 points. On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index and UPCOM-Index slightly exceeded the reference level.

Red was slightly more dominant, with the HoSE recording 223 stocks increasing in price compared to 268 stocks decreasing in price. In the VN30 group, 16/30 stocks closed below the reference.

Investors' cash flow is concentrated in three main sectors: real estate, banking and financial services. Of these, red dominates due to widespread profit-taking pressure. These three groups are also the ones that have recently seen strong trading.

GAS was the stock that contributed the most to the VN-Index today with 0.67 points when this code increased by 1.4%, to 102,900 VND. On the contrary, VCB was the stock that had the most negative impact when closing the session down 0.7% to 89,500 VND.

In VN30, GVR, TCB, SAB, SHB , HDB, MBB traded actively when closing the session in green. On the contrary, VHM, VIC, HPG, SSB, FPT decreased by more than 1%.

Total market liquidity reached over VND28,110 billion, of which HoSE liquidity alone recorded nearly VND24,770 billion. Foreign investors today net sold nearly VND885 billion, the highest in nearly a month and the third consecutive session this group has net sold.
