Currently, the unit regularly monitors salinity on Vinh Dien River and at the suction tanks of Tu Cau, Cam Sa, Vinh Dien pumping stations (hourly monitoring) to operate saline bypass pumps to ensure irrigation water for 2,000 hectares of agricultural land in An Thang, Dien Ban, Dien Ban Dong, and Ngu Hanh Son wards.
However, with the prolonged hot weather, the water source downstream of Vu Gia - Thu Bon river is decreasing combined with high tides, Vu Gia - Thu Bon Irrigation Branch believes that the risk of salt water continuing to intrude and maintain a high concentration in the suction tank of Tu Cau pumping station. At the same time, it will intrude deeply into Vinh Dien river and reach the suction tanks of Cam Sa and Vinh Dien pumping stations.
To ensure irrigation water for agricultural production areas, especially summer-autumn rice areas, the Vu Gia - Thu Bon Irrigation Branch has reported to relevant units for monitoring and direction. At the same time, it has proposed the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the People's Committee of Da Nang City to request owners of hydropower reservoirs on the upper Vu Gia - Thu Bon River to operate and regulate the increased water discharge, maintaining a stable flow downstream.
