In addition to his position as President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan is currently a permanent member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and also holds the role of Head of the Competition Committee of this organization.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press on June 21 and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Dan Tri electronic newspaper on July 15, the head of the VFF dedicated heartfelt words to the domestic media in general and the Dan Tri newspaper in particular. Media and press are the "forwards" in the football development scheme.
As the head of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), how do you evaluate the role of the media in the development of domestic football?
- In many fields in general, and football in particular, the media always plays a very important role. That is why AFC puts the media in the forward position along with the fans.
From the perspective of Vietnamese football, VFF always receives active support from the media, which is not only a bridge between Vietnamese football and fans, but also plays a role in spreading inspiration to the community.
Media builds a good image, builds trust and arouses national pride. Accurate, timely and positive information from the press contributes to spreading spiritual strength, strengthening the community's trust and support for national football.

Does it mean that the development of global football in general and Vietnamese football in particular cannot be separated from media activities?
- The media contributes multi-dimensional opinions, helping Vietnamese football to continuously improve, move towards professionalization, and move towards strong and sustainable international integration.
In the context of deep integration, the media also contributes to promoting the image of Vietnamese football internationally, enhancing the country's position through global sports tournaments.
That is the motivation for the Vietnam Football Federation, teams, players, coaches and all members of the Vietnamese football family to continue to strive for the common development goal.
Media is the "main striker" in the football development team
You mentioned that FIFA and AFC put the media in the striker position in the general football development scheme. So what is the significance of the striker position in this FIFA and AFC scheme, sir?
- The fact that FIFA and AFC compare the media and press to “strikers” reflects the important role and great impact of the press on the development of football in general, including Vietnamese football. This is a symbolic and profound image.
We know that the striker is the position to score goals, bring victory, and be the source of inspiration on the field. When FIFA and AFC put the media in the role of “striker”, it shows the pioneering and leading role of the media in conveying messages, building images, creating motivation and connecting football with the community.

The media not only reflects events, but is also a force that creates value, accompanying football on every journey.
Through creative content and positive information, the media will create a ripple effect, contributing to the comprehensive development of football, both in terms of expertise and cultural and social values. It can be affirmed that, in the modern sports environment, the media is the "main striker" in the football development team.
So how has the domestic media supported the VFF and the Vietnamese teams? For example, in providing information about opponents and competition venues that the Vietnamese teams visit before international tournaments?
- As I said, in the development process of Vietnamese football, the media is indispensable. In fact, football events from domestic to international all bear the mark of domestic media and press units.
From the articles provided by the press, VFF has promptly updated relevant information, thereby improving preparation and management. In addition, the above information also helps Vietnamese football to approach more effectively advanced football in the development process.
For example, through the press, teams are provided with timely information about their opponents. Not only that, the press contributes to raising the sense of responsibility for the national team's flag, as well as inspiring the players from fans...
Great friend of Vietnamese football
Do you have any special impressions of the domestic media at special times, sir?
- There have been very difficult times for Vietnamese football, such as the Covid-19 pandemic a few years ago, but the media has always accompanied and cheered on the national team in the third qualifying round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, as well as contributed to stabilizing the national competition system.

No matter which country the team competes in, there is always the presence of spectators and media in the stands, which is a very meaningful support for us and for Vietnamese football.
VFF in general, and I personally, always appreciate the role of the media in the activities of national football. Hopefully, this cooperation has been, is and will be increasingly closer, contributing to the sustainable development of Vietnamese football.
As for Dan Tri newspaper, we always accompany Vietnamese football and VFF, how do you evaluate this cooperation?
- For VFF, press and media agencies in general are always important partners and we always try to coordinate closely and effectively. Not only providing information through the information channels of the Vietnam Football Federation, but we also always listen to comments from the media, in order to proactively find more diverse and suitable solutions.
Particularly, the information on Dan Tri newspaper is always updated quickly and richly about the activities of Vietnamese football. Insightful articles and beautiful images of the country's football have been actively spread by Dan Tri to the community, thereby inspiring fans.
Many national players such as Quang Hai, Xuan Truong, Van Toan, Duc Chinh, Huynh Nhu, Chuong Thi Kieu or coaches such as Toshiya Miura, Kim Sang Sik, Mai Duc Chung also left many good impressions about Vietnamese football, in online exchanges on Dan Tri newspaper.

VFF has had many opportunities to work with Dan Tri reporters. VFF and I see that you work very professionally and responsibly, for the common development of national football as well as for the development of Vietnamese sports.
VFF hopes that the cooperative relationship between VFF and press and media agencies in general and Dan Tri newspaper in particular will increasingly develop, aiming at the goal of building a stable and developing Vietnamese football, on the path of international integration.
On the occasion of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day June 21 and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Dan Tri electronic newspaper, the Vietnam Football Federation would like to express our sincere thanks to the support of media agencies as well as the Newspaper; wish all Journalists and Reporters good health, always keep the passion for their profession and keep the passion for Vietnamese football.
