President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia arrives in Hanoi, starting official visit to Vietnam

The official visit to Vietnam by National Assembly Chairman Samdech Khuon Sudary is of profound significance, taking place in the context of positive developments in relations between the two countries.

President of the Cambodian National Assembly Samdech Khuon Sudary was born on November 8, 1952, in Battambang province, Cambodia.

She graduated with a BA in Khmer Literature and English from the Royal University of Phnom Penh, Cambodia in 1975; and a BA in Communications from the Budapest Institute of Communications, Hungary in 1980.

From 1979 to 1984, she was a reporter for the Cambodian People's Newspaper. From 1984 to 1987, she was Deputy General Director of the Cambodian People's Newspaper and has been General Director of the Cambodian People's Newspaper since 1987.

From 1985 to 1992, she was a member of the Cambodian Peace Council. From 1993 to 1998, she was an Advisor to the President of the Cambodian National Assembly. In 1997, she was a member of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Cambodian Communist Party; in 1998, she was a member of the Central Committee of the Cambodian Red Cross.

She was a Member of the 2nd National Assembly from 1998-2003; a Member of the National Assembly, Chairwoman of the Committee on Human Rights, Complaints Reception, Parliamentary Relations, Senate and Inspection of the 3rd (2003-2007) and 4th (2007-2012) National Assembly.

From 2013-2014, she was the Second Vice President of the 5th National Assembly and from 2015-2018, she was a Member of the 5th National Assembly (representing Kandal province), Chairwoman of the Cambodian Women Parliamentarians' Group.

From 2018 to present, she is Vice President of the 6th National Assembly, Head of the Cambodian Women Parliamentarians Group.

In 2019, she was given the title Kitty Sanghak Bandith by King Norodom Sihamoni.

In 2022, she was elected Chairwoman of the Women Parliamentarians of AIPA (WAIPA) Group.

From August 21, 2023 to present, she is the President of the 7th National Assembly of Cambodia.
