On August 20, Kien Xuong General Hospital ( Hung Yen province) announced that the unit had successfully treated a particularly critical case of multiple trauma due to a traffic accident.

The patient was admitted to the hospital with a ruptured spleen and acute blood loss. If treatment was delayed for a few minutes, the risk of death would have been high.

Previously, on the evening of August 19, Ms. VTH (57 years old, from Binh Thanh commune, Hung Yen province) was taken to Kien Xuong General Hospital with symptoms of severe pain in the chest and abdomen, rapidly dropping blood pressure, and imminent risk of death.

The hospital's ultrasound results showed a ruptured spleen, abdominal bleeding, multiple fractures of the left ribs and left clavicle.

Recognizing this as a case of “racing against death,” under the direct direction of the Director of Kien Xuong General Hospital, specialist doctor II Vu Xuan Thuy, the surgical team urgently opened the abdomen, removed the entire spleen, and stopped the bleeding urgently.

During the 3-hour surgery (from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.), doctors removed 3,500 ml of blood from the abdomen and transfused nearly 2,000 ml of red blood cells and 1,500 ml of plasma to sustain the patient's life.

The patient is now out of danger and is being cared for at the hospital's General Surgery Department.

The hospital said the surgery was successful not only thanks to precise surgical techniques, but also due to the smooth and urgent coordination of the medical team.

This continues to affirm the important frontline role of local hospitals in severe trauma emergency care, because in emergency situations, the speed and accuracy of the medical team directly determines the patient's survival./.
