(DTO) On the morning of July 29, the load testing work of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge was carried out seriously under the supervision of experts from the joint venture of contractors for the main cable-stayed bridge package (led by Trungnam EC) and CTGT Investment and Construction Consulting Company.

This is the final stage to evaluate the load-bearing capacity and safety of the bridge before it is officially put into operation. Dozens of vehicles have been put through load testing on Rach Mieu 2 Bridge.

According to Mr. Tran Van Thi, Director of My Thuan Project Management Board, as of today, the overall progress of the project has reached 99%. This figure reflects the tireless efforts of hundreds of workers and technicians over the past time.

Currently, the approach road has completed the asphalt concrete paving of 13.7 km out of a total of 14 km. Notably, all 5 bridges on the route including Xoai Hot Bridge, My Tho Bridge, Tam Son Bridge, Ba Lai Bridge and Song Ma Bridge have been completed.

The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Project has a total investment of over VND 6,810 billion; it is not only an important traffic project, but also has profound socio -economic significance. The 1,971.2 m long cable-stayed bridge with a 4-lane grade III delta road will significantly reduce pressure on the current Rach Mieu Bridge; especially reducing traffic congestion on weekends and holidays.

The Rach Mieu 2 main bridge with modern cable-stayed structure has completed the asphalt concrete paving of the bridge deck. The main construction items are basically finished, only the final finishing stages remain.

Construction units are focusing on conducting important experiments such as measuring the vibration of the cables and the damping system. These are indispensable technical inspection steps for a modern cable-stayed bridge like Rach Mieu 2.

With more than 35 construction sites, 100 pieces of equipment, 350 workers and 70 technical staff working in 3 shifts, 4 teams, the construction site still maintains a high pace to ensure progress.

According to the announced plan, July 31 will mark the completion of the entire Rach Mieu 2 Bridge. In early August, the units will hold a meeting of the Council to inspect and accept the project, then proceed to hand it over to the two provinces of Dong Thap and Vinh Long.

It is expected that before September 2, the bridge will be officially inaugurated and put into operation, opening a new chapter for traffic connecting the two western provinces.

With 99% progress completed and the load test going smoothly this morning, Rach Mieu 2 Bridge is gradually preparing for the important day of inauguration, contributing to promoting the development of the entire region.
