Tran Quyet Chien faces many familiar opponents
Tran Quyet Chien is the only male player from Vietnam to participate in the 3-cushion carom event at the 2025 World Games taking place in China from August 7 to 17. Ranked 3rd in the World Carom Billiards Federation (UMB) rankings and currently the player with the most World Cup titles from Vietnam, Quyet Chien has received great expectations.
The men's 3-cushion carom billiards event brings together 12 excellent players including: Dick Jaspers (Netherlands) - the world's 3-cushion carom legend, holding the number 1 position for many years; Cho Myung-woo (Korea); Tayfun Tasdemir (Turkey); Jeremy Bury (France); Sameh Sidhom (Egypt); Luis Martinez (Colombia); Erick Tellez (Costa Rica), Martin Horn (Germany); Heo Jung-han (Korea); Pedro Piedrabuena (USA); Jiale Qian (China).

Tran Quyet Chien will have to overcome many formidable opponents. Many of them have faced Vietnamese players in international tournaments such as World Cup billiards, World Championship... However, with many years of experience, Tran Quyet Chien is still considered a strong candidate, capable of achieving high results if he plays at his best.
However, this tournament is still missing a few outstanding players with many fans around the world. One of them is the genius Frederic Caudron (Belgium). The veteran player born in 1968 has just returned to UMB for more than a year so he does not have a high ranking.
Participating in the 2025 World Games marks the third consecutive time Tran Quyet Chien has participated in this prestigious playground, after the 2017 (in Poland) and 2022 (in the US) tournaments. In the previous two tournaments, Vietnam's number 1 player reached the quarter-finals. With his maturity and clearer desire, Tran Quyet Chien is expected to be able to make a difference. This is an opportunity for Tran Quyet Chien to contribute to the country's flag and at the same time conquer a big goal.
Besides Tran Quyet Chien, another representative of Vietnamese billiards who will attend the 2025 World Games is female player Phung Kien Tuong. Kien Tuong will compete in the women's 3-cushion carom event with 7 other players.
This World Games in China is also a turning point for Tran Quyet Chien, before the world 3-cushion carom billiards season enters the final stage. A good result at the 2025 World Games could be a big mental boost for him to continue searching for titles in tournaments taking place in the second half of this year.
After the 2025 World Games, Vietnam's No. 1 player will participate in 4 major tournaments under the UMB system. Specifically, he will compete in 3 stages of the World Cup billiards in Belgium, Korea and Egypt. In particular, he will also participate in the World Championship, the most prestigious arena of UMB in Belgium in October.
