“I am very happy and excited. This is the third consecutive championship of U23 Vietnam at the U23 Southeast Asian tournament, thereby becoming a stepping stone for the whole team to be more successful in the upcoming period,” Nguyen Dinh Bac shared after winning the championship with U23 Vietnam at Bung Karno Stadium on the evening of July 29.
The striker born in 2004 is one of the outstanding faces of U23 Vietnam in this tournament. He scored 2 goals, making an important contribution to the journey to the championship. One goal was scored in the group stage win over Cambodia, the other goal came in the 2-1 semi-final victory over U23 Philippines.
In the final match against U23 Indonesia, although he did not score, Dinh Bac was still the name that received a lot of attention from the home team. He was closely marked, showing the caution that U23 Indonesia had for the striker wearing the CAHN shirt. Dinh Bac's mobility, ability to harass and technical ball handling always made the opposing defense highly alert.
Along with Nguyen Hieu Minh, Dinh Bac is the player who scored the most goals for U23 Vietnam in this year's tournament. Although only 21 years old, he has been a mainstay at the youth team levels, and this time he continues to affirm his important role under coach Kim Sang-sik.
“Before the tournament, my team and I were very determined, set the goal of winning the championship and we achieved it. The whole team will try our best to get the best results, bringing the best achievements for Vietnamese football in the U23 Asian qualifiers and SEA Games 33,” Dinh Bac emphasized.
Having won the regional championship for three consecutive years, Dinh Bac and U23 Vietnam understand that the journey is still long. The goal ahead is the continental arena, where more difficult challenges await. But with what has been shown, coach Kim Sang-sik's team can confidently move forward.
